~7K/Month is similar to what I've seen other medium speed/medium drag jobs going for in Iraq lately.

The number of slots isn't as big as it used to be and you have many more qualified bodies to fill those slots.

Supply and demand.

This is most likely static gate babysitting jobs..very common
$84K is in the ballpark.
Do your research on the company.

Ha!! Some of you say : Only $84,000.00??? Let me tell you something. You head to Iraq and do your job for a year. Considering that it is all about tax free..........thats $7,000.00 a month take home. Now considering that you,ll recieve quarters and other needs probably including Chow. You will basically have no where to spend your money neither. So when you get home on leave after 1st year............ you should have $75,000.00 stuffed neatly away without a problem. I am allowing the other $9,000.00 for the times you have free time and want to spend a week in Bangkok or Amsterdam and some other goodies. Its a nice Gig.................

I did contract work 1991-1997 ( Non PSD ) It was a great chance to push me forward in life and the places and things i saw were amazing!!

Hell, that's about three times as much as I made in Iraq for the Govt. and half the work. Sounds like a good deal to me, Too bad I still got a year left. need to start applying, hoping to get Afghanistan since I've already been to Iraq.

If not for the wife I'd take it in a second. The $84,000 says a lot about what the job is, and is not. Likely to be a somewhat boring year, and that's not bad money for a boring year.

From what I have been told by a guy in Afganistan, the salaries have come down a lot since the early days, mid decade, - ie: 2004/5/6 etc.

I don't know what people are paid these days in the USA, but for me US $ 84.000 would be a fortune.
