My neighbor's grandsons came over yesterday and I got to play with their toy.
I'm sure some of you (Anthony?) know what this 14845i14844s14843.14842.14841

Rolls engine, very quiet, lotsa fun. Don't know about MPG, but at least it's GREEN:biggrin:

MPG is supposed to be 13-15 in the city and 18-20 hwy IIRC

I'm sure that, upon first sight, it must cause the local pacifists, vegetarians and newbie LEO's some heart palpitations - cool !

Quite a few Ferrets in collections in this country. Our 4/19th POW (Prince of Wales) Light Horse had a shit load of them in days gone by. When the 1st APC Squadron appeared and the M113s were on strength, the Ferrets were sent to Reserve units, then eventually disposed of. It was with great difficulty I managed to do a course on one of them, as I'm over 6' 2" tall and weighed in at about 220lbs. Hard bastards to get in and out of.

Ummm..., Sir..., just what kind of farm or ranch do you have? :lmao:

Maybe one along the southern U.S. border....

Yep Ive heard they were a bit cramped; but I suppose the counter to that is that they are more easily maneuverable in tighter places. I toyed with the thought of one and a Saladin for awhile; but after feeding and repairing a Land Rover, I decided it wasnt the best choice; after all there arent that many Rolls Royce dealers around when you need spare parts.....

OTOH it is just about the coolest 4 wheeled armored vehicle youre likely to find forsale.

And it gets about the same MPG as alot of trucks. If I ahd one I'd deffinately consider swapping the dummy 30 cal for a nice semi auto M1919.

I hear about 4MPG. I'll keep my Toyota, thank you very much.

We're out from town a bit - the local pacifists, vegetarians and who ever else are either used to the gunfire or totally unaware. Lotsa shooters out here..

Very nice! When I was a kid, paging through my Big Book of Armored Vehicles, that was on my short list of vehicles that I would like to own someday. Thanks for the cool pics!

This winter there was one parked at a hotel in my area. I read up on them and read that they were particulary loud in the interior and hot.

Fixed it for you.

And, like most armored vehicles, there's no way I would fit inside of it anyway, but, again, like most armored vehicles, it would be cool to have one.

I was AK shopping online this weekend and stumbled on a Ferret for sale at Atlantic Firearms...

http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct732.aspx

It is not what I would spend $19,500 on, but it does look like an entertaining vehicle.

We never had them in the Royal Marines.

Just Land Rovers, 4x4 Bedford trucks and tracked vehicles for Norway/snow.

Generally we walked. - "Yomped" is the term actually.

To "Yomp" = walking with very heavy packs on one's back.

Regards,
Anthony.

Danm, Im glad I had forgotten about that when I went looking for my "gun jeep". Im stil concerned about long term sustainability BUT the coooool factor is waaaaay up there. Maybe its worth a trip to Atlantic, to try a fit test. I wonder if they take credit cards????

Guy was driving one legally in Indanopolis about ten years ago. Cops are called on him and they surround the ferret with pistols and shotguns drawn. Driver said in a later interview that "the thing was bullet proof so why would I get out until they had calmed down." LOL!

What great about ferrets is they are street legal and really sharp looking.

I like it :)

Question, when taking it in for inspections and emissions, is it required to also check the big gun, and its sights, with a round or two?
