Check out the new S&W 520. Is that a good looking revolver or What? :) http://www.firearms.smith-wesson.com/store/index.php3?cat=294660&sw_activeTab=2

You know, I am not sold on titanium or scandium for large heavy calibers. For a little belly snubby? Yes, not for a 41 magnum, or a 357.

If you ask me, the ultimate S&W wheelgun would be:

L-Frame Round Butt
Synthetic Low-Profile Grip
Carbon Steel - Parkerized
3 1/2" Barrell - Light contour
.44 magnum, but carried with .44 Special
(Alternatively in .45 ACP)
Hammerless Design
Dehorned so no sharp edges exist
Fixed, not adjustable sights.
Think of the old 3" model 13 and inject it with steroids.

Fat chance they'll make that.

Would a 27 3-1/2" fit the bill.

Dump the sights and replace with good steel sights, cut the hammer spur, smooth the trigger, radius the cylinder button, chamfer and number them, chop the grip to K frame round but and load with full power .357 Winchester Silvertips and you have a great carry gun.

David,
What do you think of the BB 125g 357s.

That S&W 520 isn't the original 520 that was an N-frame 357mag with fixed sights that the NYSP used here in my state.

Start with a 21-4 and you will get pretty close.

David,

High velocity Gold Dots- A decent choice if Silvertips are not available.

AH!!!! The best thing next to sliced bread.

27 3 1/2", smooth the action, radius the trigger, dehorn, and despur the hammer instal the Cylinder and slide double action kit and the duty fixed sight and away you go. :D

I really don't understand why S&W puts those goofy sights on so many of their revolvers....

They do look strange but they give you a great sight picture. There's just something about a good looking revolver that floats my boat. The blue steel Python and the S&W mod27 are the top two in my book. :)

An additional advatage of the Python, 27 and similar weapons is that if you happen to hit something with them you do not bend the barrel, as I have seen happen to weapons of weaker design.
