Got this a couple of weeks ago (May 30). Looks like these guys are hiring for Steele:

Pay scale: $300.00 per day (12 hour day)

I won't take a case for less than $300 per hour and I am thinking about raising my rates. People should not risk their lives so cheaply.

Amen to that....but it's still not right to expect it from those who are defending our country. I don't make that kind of money either.

Unfortunately, $300 per day is fairly standard pay in the U.S. for armed private security, i.e. if you have some experience, references, all the required licenses (guard-card, CCW, etc.), and are working under someone else's agency and/or business license... The client will be charged $75 - $100 an hour. I know a few highly experienced senior operatives who will settle for $500 - $600 per day plus a small per diem (that won't cover prime-rib and four-star hotels).

The type of job above is bread-and-butter for a lot of good operatives. The private client market is more lucrative, but harder to get into, and no way, no how, are you going to make anything close to what even a mediocre lawyer can earn in a day.

I looked at CSI's standard pay scale. :eek: I can't find the words to describe what's happened to this industry. The sandbox looks better and better everyday.

Considering my take-home for two weeks being surrounded by criminals all day (corrections) is about $750, I would do 300 a day in a heartbeat. That's almost a year's salary for 4 months work.

some of you guys obviously dont know the current international security market.. or dont understand basic economics..

working in Kuwait currently pays about $60K a year.. you get to come "home" less than 2 months out of the year.. and you live on the local economy (you buy your own meals and other incidentals)...

working static in Iraq currently pays about $65K a year... some companies pay less.. and you get to come "home" a little more than 2 months out of the year..

break it down boys.. $65K.. divided by 300 days a year (the number of days you are actually in theater and getting paid), equals $216.00 a day..

while that is a mere pittance compared to the $140K a year that many of the same people were making two years ago to do the exact same job (static security).. and even less than the $180-$210K that many were making to do mobile work in the "war zone".. there are still THOUSANDS of people doing those jobs in those two countries alone..

$300 a day.. is very good money in the security industry right now.. especially working CONUS.. even if that means sitting on the side of a barge with a couple of hundred oil rig types for hours on end, sniffing petroleum deposits...

it aint a job for everyone..

but those who enjoy this type of work.. will most likely run HARD after a $300 a day paycheck..

comparing working concerts and events.. is not a comparrison..

you get $300 for ONE DAY.. then they check runs out..

these guys are getting $300 a day.. 7 days a week.. for an indefinate period of time..

other than some guys I know making $600 a day to work the Gulf of Aden right now.. the guys working the Gulf of Mexico are among the best paid maritime security people on the globe (and the qualifications/requirements for working GOM positions are FAR LOWER than what it takes to get hired on a GOA job.. not to mention the risk is lower.. the living conditions are better.. and the job is more consistent...GOA jobs generally last from 10 to 30 days and then you are out.. occasionally you can find a 90 day ride)
