Gents,

I have 86 credits of college

Armorer for the following weapon systems.

1. AR15/M16
2. Mossberg 500/590
3. Remington 870
4. Glock Pistols
5. Colt 1911/1991 Pistols
6. Remington 700 Rifles

I have a precision rifle 2 day class certificate, and a CCW MN and Utah permit.

I imagine most of what I wrote doesn't have much merit on an application.

What I'm asking for is anyone that has contacts in SW CONUSA Police Departments that are looking for someone who doesn't have experience and is accepting a guy who is 21, highly motivated, and looking to relocate from MN and start a career. If somebody has a contact interested in that, then I'd love a reply or a PM.

The other reason I posted here is I'd like to know where in SW USA is a good place to live. Fairly gun friendly, cheap cost of living, decent food, etc.

Thanks Gents,

Nathan

Forget AZ.

Pretty much everyone is frozen given the state of the economy, several are looking at layoffs or reductions through attrition. I would guess that any near-term hires will be giving priority to those already certified i.e., the guys laid off from other departments.

Sorry.

What he said.:(

Then only current opening for Deputies at Yavapai CO SO is for lateral entries. I imagine that the city PD's around here are the same as well.

Our department is hiring in AZ. PM me for details.
Just note that if the state starts yanking back funding from the counties next year to cover their own budget issues, which I expect they will..... layoffs will come.

Gents...

You may look into Albuquerque, New Mexico or surrounding areas. Low cost of living (real estate is cheap and readily available), gun friendly, places for hiking/climbing/shooting all over.

We're a desert, but we get all 4 seasons including some snow (some of the best skiing/snow boarding in the area)

Plus, we have green chile :D

A lot of guys that I have worked with have started out in corrections and paid their own way through "crossover training" as LEOs and then hired on to LE agencies here in Florida. This might be something worth looking into in the SW as well. I don't know if the SW states do this or not but I doubt its unique to Florida.

BTW, the cost of the crossover training here is $1200 - $1400.
