Saw this in the local paper today. SLT is on the CA/NV border.

Police Officer - Lateral
Pay: $4,714 - $5,731/mo + excel benefits

It would be good if you can stand 4-10' of snow per year. It's very much like living in a freezer for 6 months and the other six months it's the most beautiful place your mind can imagine. I used to live on the North Shore.
I don't miss the tourists. South Shore has Heavenly Valley Ski Resort and not far from Kirkwood if you're into skiing. Great fishing for Macinaw ( Lakers ) to 20+ lbs. I think the Lake record was 22+.
