I'm looking at buying a Sig P220. Besides the price, is there ANY reason to buy the basic P220R instead of the P220 Elite? The price difference isn't big enough for me to really care. This will be a every day carry gun. Sig P220R and Sig P220 Elite are the only two options for this decision.

I can't tell you the pros and cons, but I owned a 220 for several years, and it was an excellent pistol. Very accurate and soft shooting, and completely reliable. The only reason I sold it was because of the limited ammo capacity.

I thought about selling my 220 equinox, but I suppose you have to own at least one .45 acp and the 220 may as well be the one!...despite only having 8+1 rds.

I have a P220R w/ N.S. and it's a great duty pistol. I don't care for that sharp beaver tail on the Elite. YMMV

I'm going to go with a standard P220R since I'm putting Big Dots on it anyway, if I decide I want the SRT I can have that done later.

Most holsters are made for the original P-220. The newer editions may not have proper "leather". Check out their availability.

The rail's not an option, it's a requirement. I've never seen a holster maker that's worth their name not be able to make a holster for a P220R.
