I bought some new magazines for my Glock several weeks ago (model 19).

After fidgeting with them, I noticed that something in the bottom of the magazine rattles pretty loud every times i shake it. Im not sure what it is though. Does anyone know if this is normal or not?

Also, the store that I bought them from said that they hold 17 bullets, although the number only goes up to 15. Is it safe to put 17, or should I stick with 15?

Thank you for your time.

The 19's standard magazine holds 15 rounds of 9x19. The seventeen round mag from a Model 17 will work as well.

Does it rattle when it's loaded? That's not unusual.

Yes, it only rattles when it is loaded.

Normal. My 23 mags have done that for 10 years. i wouldn't worry about it. ;)

If the rattle bothers you you might be able to stop it.
As you load the magazine, stop every 5 rounds or so and smack the back of the magazine against your palm, this helps seat the rounds. I do this with my 16 round P99 magazines and it stops the rattle.

I also use the smack the base into the palm of the hand and in addition I smack the rear of the mag into the palm of my hand.

Someone asked that same question at the last Glock Armorers class and they said the rattle was normal.

Just for comparison my G30 10 round mags do that as well. So does the 13 round G21 mag I have.
