I am planning on picking up a weighted vest, but there a number to choose from and a fairly varied price range as well. CWS, what do you use? I was thinking that a 60 lb. would be a good start. What do you guys think?

I don't have a store bought weight vest. I have a couple of ballistic vest with hard inserts that the department surplused out due to being out dated.

Attached is something I wrote up for Gabe some time back. I just updated it a little bit. Maybe it will have some useful tidbits of info.

Without knowing you personally I cannot give an opinion on 60 lbs. It is hard to say whether it would be too light for you, too heavy for you, and of course that still all depends on what you will be using it for. Gonna do squats, pushups, situps, calf raises (I call them the "Big 4")? Then the sky is the limit. Plan on doing any heel strike activity, then I would suggest toning it way down. And of course cost is a consideration. I could suggest getting a 50 lb. V-max, but do you have $200 (although they now have a new "Plate" vest that could be interesting http://www.weightvest.com/Pages/60Platevest.html ). But not being able to put hands on this product always makes it an individual's crap shoot.

I have a V-Max weight vest and am very satisfied with it. Easy to load, stays tight as you work out. It's a good piece of equipment.
