Back when I was stationed at Fort Hood, TX, we did a lot of of work with the good folks from Fort Monmouth NJ. One evening we went to dinner with one of their guys at this little dinner. This guy was an ass from the start. He was talking shit about Texas, the stupid cowboy hats with that NJ accent. We tried to warn him, but he continued. He berated the nice waitress over something stupid…. This big cowboy from another table took his hat off, and walked over to our table. He grabbed that NJ fellow by the collar and punched him three times in the face. He stood up and politely told him to shut the F up and went back to finish his dinner. When the cowboy left he tipped his hat to the NJ guy. The next day the NJ guy showed up for work with two black eyes and a busted nose. He started to complain to local about the nights events. The local told him “Welcome to Texas!”

Don’t know why that memory popped into my head, but it still cracks me up.

That’s how it was here, it was just a given that rude behavior would buy you a first class ass whipping.

Watched my old man knock a dude out in the old Piggly Wiggly parking lot for being rude to my mother.

Ain’t like that here anymore I imagine.

God I miss my Texas.

I would think putting boot to ass on anyone that is rude to your girl is mandatory anywhere.

True, I have seen a lot of changes here since coming back.
