At chow yesterday. No Titos
But the waitress looks at me and says..."Paleo diet right?" I smile and nod. She asks of I drink Tequila. "Only the best kind", I reply.

She comes back with a Bandito. 1 part Reposado, 1 part lemon juice, 1 part club soda. Salt is optional.

Not much of a tequila drinker, but that does sound pretty good.... Just poured a Tito's and soda water to help finish off the day.

I normally only drink bourbon, but that sounds pretty good.

Something about the Lemmon juice seems very appealing with the tequila.... I had a bad night with some bad tequila on my way (of all places) to TJ one night as a youngster and haven't had much of it since then. But on occasion over the years I have sampled some of the nicer stuff and it is much better than that crap I use to buy in TJ to bring back home.

That seems like the perfect way to end a good day in the Southwest.

The Bandito. Will have to try when I’m out there for KWTL in a few weeks.

But I’m also a firm believer in “You can’t lose with the brown booze.”

Jameson and Johnnie Walker Black are my standards. Gold Label as a first pour on weekend, and Blue Label for special occasions.

I always keep a bottle of Maker’s Mark as well, as it was my D.A. Chief’s favorite. (R.I.P. James P, Kerrigan. Best Chief/Boss I EVER worked for. Not yet forgiven for your final decision, but never forgotten and forever loved.)

When I have those occasional nights where I’m sitting alone in front of my fire, and the souls of lost comrades are hovering around the edges of my memories, Maker’s is always the medicine of those moments.

Anyway, I’ll bring a bottle of Johnnie “something” to KWTL.

'Clase Azul' reposado would fit quite well into that mixture, available at most finer liquor stores :-)

On point. I'm about to hit a three day weekend after shift and that sounds like the recipe.

I learned a long time ago Jose Quervo and all his friends are no friend of mine. I'll stick to whiskey, preferably Bird Dog

You’re right about that. All tequila is not equal.

Some are a lot better than others.

Same could be said about bourbon too.

That drink sounds great. I can understand mixing decent tequila, but top shelf should be sipped and enjoyed like a good scotch.
