6 days back we threw our legs over our bikes and ran hard to Oklahoma to visit some of my wife's old friends. 2 days later we are kicking back at their place 10 miles out a dirt road.

We piled into his side by side for a tour of his place and about a half hour in an armadillo jumps out into the trail, which he jumped on the gas and tried to run over. He missed when it ran into the woods. Not 10 second later he sees another about 60 feet in the woods rooting around and says "damn, I left my gun back at the house" , I smiled and said I had mine. The Secamp is ALWAYS in my pocket. He smiles and says shoot it.

OK, now I'm thinking 60 feet I need a head shot since he was concerned about a ricochet from a " small caliber". Damn, 60 feet hope I can pull it off. First shot would of hit it in the ears if they were up and the damn thing didn't flinch. Second hit him in the head, he didn't flinch that time either.

Back at his place he asked to see it. He looked and said " you hit the with no sights"? He just shook his head and handed it back.

I never figured my Sercamp as a varmint gun.

What kind of asshole tries to run over animals with a vehicle? I think you need better friends.

The Seecamp part of the story was excellent, though!!

Some people, who grow food, consider armadillos as pests. Varmint control is reasonable.

Varmint control is reasonable, but it should be done as humanely as possible. Deliberately inflicting pain on what are effectively innocent (if destructive) animals is not a good thing.

If armadillos don't want to get run over, why do they loiter on the roads?

Armadillos? Can you eat them on the half shell?

I've killed more armadillos with BF Goodrich Radial AT's than with a firearm.
What's more inhumane... flattening an armadillo instantly or having to put down a cow, stud bull or horse because they stumbled into an armadillo hole or tunnel and fractured a leg?
And I never liked going almost knee deep in one of their fucking holes when putting up square bales.
This area has a decent amount of cattle and horses and armadillos are kill on site as far as I'm concerned.
