I believe they were one of the first bands to produce a CD that was recorded, mixed, and released all in digital. Would have had the "DDD" logo on the back.

Ride Across the River....one of my absolute favorites.

There are a few albums that I would nominate as "perfect"...meaning every song is decent and at least a few are absolute classics. Money for Nothing is one of those albums.

Yes!! Mark Knopfler is my all time favorite guitarist. He puts so much feeling into his music and you can tell he absolutely loves the magic of creating it. He's a really humble guy too with a lot of great stories.

Don't forget Sultans of Swing:

Mark's solo albums are great, too! Sailing to Philadelphia, Down the Road Wherever, Ragpicker's Dream...

I thought I was a "Dire Straights" fan (late bloomer), but I'd never heard "Ride Across the River". Awesome piece!

I love Dire Straits. They had studio drummer Omar Hakim sit in on Sultans of Swing when it was recorded and his mini drum solo riff is such an understated genius. I was a drummer many years ago and the simplicity of that riff, while being difficult, gets me every time I hear it.
