#1 son shovels snow in 12+ hour shifts whenever it snows over 2 inches. Makes good money for a 16yr old. Today he surprised me with a Spyderco tactical folder to replace the one seized by TSA in San Diego in 2014. I'm a Luddite and do not know how to post a photo. Its a keeper and I will carry it everyday.

Those types of *gifts* are always the best. They are extra special when they buy you something from the money they earned themselves and saw fit to spend on you...just because. Proud Dad moment for sure!

Moments like this one make me wish I had kids.
I envy you and your excellent job of raising a young man.

That’s raising them up right. With this one being a special gift [emoji320] I bet TSAholes won’t get it.

FYI,
Several years back, I was dropped off at our local airport to fly out west. Realized that my knife was with me, and that I didn’t want to turn it in!
Went to a vending machine and bought a large candy bar in a foil-type packet. Flushed the candy bar away and placed the knife in the foil pack. (Did this in the restroom)
I then proceeded to walk the airport, scoping out the cctv units. Found a relatively blind area with a large plant there. Shoved the knife into the soil and boarded my plane with no issues.
Two weeks later I retrieved my knife and called a cab for the ride home. (No Ubers back then:)
