While doing a little bit of light reading in preparation for the upcoming hard times, I find myself finding wise words from the Captain of our ship. This quote was featured in the 2011 book Survivors, by James Wesley, Rawles.

I read Survivors right when it came out, and I have always remembered that quote. But, I didn't know about Gabe at the time, so the connection didn't click. I started following Gabe and WT about a year later but never revisited Survivors to match the name.

Gabe - you were influencing me before I even realized it.

Btw, this reminds me of another similar quote from Boston's Gun Bible:

"A pistol is merely a weapon used to fight your way back to your rifle - which you shouldn't have left behind."
