I'd like to thank the members of our tribe that offered their thoughts and prayers to my family and everyone else threatened by the approach of Hurricane Delta.I truly believe that it made a difference in the outcome of this disaster.Other than loss of power,Cable TV,Internet,WiFi and Telephone for about 12 hours, our neighborhood came through with very minor damage.

I generally feel a little guilt when I see a storm enter the gulf and all of us hope it will go somewhere else and there a sense of relief when it does, but we know someone is going to badly suffer. Even if our wishes had no real influence on the final outcome there is a still a feeling of guilt.

My most serious losses from hurricane sally were minimal because I am above high water with floor ht of 92 ft that is 14 above the near by creek and the house is reinforceed concrete poured block, steel roofs, double to triple hurricane clips/straps, 3/4 inch plywood shutters secured to 1/2" j-bolts sunk in cement and steel exterior doors mortared in place.. If you prepare the damage will still occur, but it is less. I lost an apple tree and two satsuma oranges and a nectarine were injured by falling trees. I had to repair fencing being the biggie.
Guns are essential, but being able to deal with forces of nature when you are in their way is even more important. A brother lost one house in a california brush fire and another of his houses in Montana was threatened by forest fires. He did not plan well where he put his homes. But he has good insurance and money.
