Guys, I got an unwelcome prostrate diagnosis this week and will likely be going to Cancer Treatment Center near Atlanta within the next few days. Not much information yet except my chest x-ray is clear. Do any of you have current experience with this place? I know three guys who did extremely well but they were all several years ago. Prayers appreciated if you’re so inclined. I’m a Christian so it’s in His hands. Honestly, my biggest concern is that my wife has to endure all this. Nuff said about all that.
Having to be in the Atlanta area is of at least as much concern as anything else. I’ve never liked it or felt safe there even on an otherwise good day. If at all possible I don’t want to be there around election time. Meeting with local doctors on Wednesday and if it appears I can get the same treatment locally we will take that path. Have to say I was extremely impressed with my conversation with CTC on Friday, though.
I’ve stayed off the internet until I know exactly what I’m dealing with for the sake of sanity. You guys are straight up, though, and I know that your comments will be worth listening to.
Thanks, gentlemen.

No experience with the center, but much experience with prayers. They will be said, and lifted up to the most high.

Where, Specifically, is the CTCA You will be treated at? There are good and not so great areas. Let me know and I can try to steer You in the right direction. Most definite prayers for You as well, Brother.

Brother, I know nothing of that area, but I do know about prayer and will be lifting you and your family up!

About a half hour South of the Atlanta airport in one of the suburbs called something that begins with N. Sorry, can’t remember the exact name. I’ve mapped a way through SC to hopefully avoid going right through the middle of Atlanta on I-85. And Thanks for the prayers. You’ve no idea what that means.

Prayers lifted here as well. Some prostate cancers really aren't very fast growing, "you'll die of old age first" I've been told. Hope you have one that's relatively easy to deal with.

If you have not yet had a multiparametric MRI then ask your Urologist about it. I suggest doing so before you are biopsied.

I have a friend who used to give anesthesia at CTCA in Atlanta. He retired a couple of years ago. When working there, he seemed to feel that they gave top notch care and used leading edge techniques. It sounded impressive ! FWIW.....
Best wishes ! mike

My mother-in-law went there for treatment off and on for about 6 months before she passed. The Newnan area is nice, and the staff were fantastic.
Newnan is Lewis Grizzard and Alan Jackson's hometown, if memory serves.

Yes, Newnan is about 1 hour south of Atlanta and is a good area. Coweta county is still quite nice and civilized, and Newnan is the county seat. No shenanigans there.

Nothing to offer but encouragement. I have several friends and family members who have beaten prostate cancer with the help of modern medicine. Depending on the treatment modality you go with, the process may be unpleasant, but you stand a good chance of beating this thing. I'll add you to my prayers as well. You've got this.

Newnan? You’ll be fine. A couple of my cousins are cops there. I was there for a family event a few weeks ago. Newnan was a cow pasture when I was a kid. Now it’s a hip spot for old white people. If you’re a Walking Dead fan, drive over to Senoia and check out the old sets.

Only drove straight through on I-85, so I cannot be of help there. I can lift prayer to the great physician for healing and a successful treatment.

Brother, I am a nurse and I live and work in Newnan. Nice town...definitely NOT downtown Atlanta.
PM me if you need specific information, but you should have no problems while you're here.
Will you be staying in the hotel by CTCA or will you be an inpatient in the hospital.
If you're going to be in the hospital I can bring you good books, if you'll be in the hotel I can loan you any "hardware" you need for the duration of your stay.
Hit me up bro, I got your back.
In fact, I'm PMing you my contact info now

Wow! Thanks, guys. There have been many times when I've bowed my head on behalf of some of you but one never really knows how to appreciate it until you need something yourself. Very much appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback on Newnan and CTC, the offers of support and the encouragement. We're all good on hardware for whichever vehicle we use. Now I just have to go kick this thing to the curb!
