Those that wear them, what do you have, what do you like, why do you like them? Color preference? Where’d you get them and how long have you had them?

Right now I currently have a pair of Ariat Sport I’ve been in for about 7 years and have a pair of Justin Bent Rail originals on the way. I’m not going to lie, I like the traditional look but the modern features like non slip soles and the like. I stick to browns and tans because I prefer a cap toe Oxford with a suit.

I’ve been wearing ariat slip on for three years. The ones I get look like cowboy boots but have a boot sole. They work good and their waterproof, and I do keep a good set that look good...

I have several pair of Dan Post. I have a narrow heel and they fit me perfect out of the box. Everything from leather to snake to eel to lizard to ostrich to alligator.

I hated cowboy boots when I grew up on the farm...I either wore construction type boots or tennis shoes depending on what we were doing. But I wear cowboy boots a lot now when I'm out and about. I guess you could say they are shit kickers, though not for bovine droppings.

I've got an old pair of brown Tony Lamas that I've had since my first year in college. Those things are tough and have held up surprisingly well and still look decent. I've replaced the inner sole but otherwise they're good to go and still get used.

I've had a couple of Nocona boots...most comfortable boots I've ever had and I wore the sole out of both of em.

My favorite is a pair of ostrich leg Lucchese, very comfortable and sharp. I don't wear those out in the wet in Seattle...which means I mostly wear these when I go down to AZ.

Brown, tan, black, round toe, square toe...all good. Only thing I don't care for are the really pointy types, they're just not my style. I like the idea of rubberized soles (and I have a couple of those) but all the boots I really like and find most comfortable are traditional types.

I like cowboy boots for flying. Easy to take on and off for the Security Theater.

Only pair I have or ever owned is Double H in Bison leather with the ICE sole. Not something I wear a lot but i do enjoy them.
When i was shopping I didnt know what i was looking for. My only real requirement was that they were US made.

I have and have had a huge number of boots since HS. I currently have a pair of J toe, Lucchese, cow hide, leather sole, pull on Ropers. Lucchese toe (square), caimans, don't remember the brand, leather sole, pull on Roper. Lucchese toe, bull hide, crepe sole, Ropers, from Twisted X. and a pair of J toe, Twisted X, bison hide, Riding boots that have a shaft up to my knees with a really tall riding heel and pronounced spur shelf and smooth rubber sole.

Boots that I've had that I loved were both lase on Ropers, Ariat and Justin work boots. Both great for every day wear. As a side note Ariat was my only major sponsor when I was riding Pro bulls, and the only reason I scored them was because they were new to the market at the time 95' ish.

Yep, got my pro card between my Jr. and Sr. year of HS after riding amateur for only a couple of months. Did it for about 5.5 years.

My everyday boots are a pair of Justin Work Boots. I don't know the line or model. Brown, square toe, composite safety toe, waterproof, and work boot sole.

Got them at Tractor Supply here local and just got a new pair after the first pair got Malinois-ed after just over two years.

The only pair I own right now were my grandad's. Unknown origin--they were custom-made by hand somewhere in Texas, likely in the 60's. Marks inside aren't readable any more. They're a work of art--THICK ostrich skin, zippered inside seam for easy on/off. I'll get some pics up if you want.

The soles were pretty shot, so several years ago I did some research and found the best boot guy in my area and took them in to get some modern soles put on. When I went to pick them up, the boot guy wouldn't stop raving about how amazing they were. He said you never see craftsmanship like them any more, and most ostrich skin boots are too thin and don't make it very long. He said these boots would last over 100 years if taken care of. He gave me a discount on the resole job, saying it was an honor as a craftsman to get to work on something so special. Made me feel really good inside.

They don't fit me as well as boots that I size for myself, but they fit good enough for wearing out and about. And they're connected to Grandad, who was the family legend, so I love wearing them.

I've been meaning to pick up another pair of nice boots for myself; I just never get around to it and feel like I should do it when I'm back in Texas visiting. Probably will get it done this year.

I wear a pair of Justin’s with a rubber sole for grip. I love them and wear them as often as possible. Not work appropriate so that’s mostly on the weekends. They are my first pair. Wife got them for me about 5 years ago after she kept telling me I would like them. She was right as usual.

I’ve worn boots exclusively since I was about 15. I’ve had a lot of basic Ariats, they generally last a year or so of hard use but we’re always comfortable right out of the box. For 9 years I wore the same pair of Black Jack’s probably 350 days a year. Had them resoled 7 times and repaired 3 before they just finally couldn’t handle it anymore and I was forced to retire them.

I’ve switched almost 100% to Anderson Bean’s with their hybrid sole. It looks like a traditional leather sole but is rubber in the high wear area. Last year I got a pair made of Giraffe and they’re my all time favorite boots.

Rio de Mercedes or Anderson Bean for me. They are made in the US and that's important to me. I dont wear them as much as I used to, but anytime I feel like I need to dress up a little out they come. All square toe 2 brown (bison, shark) 2 black (hippo, big bass) covers everything I need.

Rarely wear cowboy boots (generally when I need to "Ranger" up for court and the jury needs to see that instead of wingtips) but Ive tried several brands and my favorite believe it or not was Twisted -X in a stovepipe top, square toe and buckaroo heel. Wore the soles off once then the pigskin liner ripped and couldnt be repaired. They quit making that boot , and I replaced with the closest Llama I could find, still not right.

One of these days I will hit the border and visit the place my buddy gets his made (he wears nothing but cowboy boots day to day) they seem to last forever, are made to order and he is the fastest man I have ever seen in a 100 meter dash in cowboys (we were chasing a suspect and he was off like a rocket, I would have killed myself trying to accomplish what he did in those boots) .

The oldest pair on the left were worn daily for nearly 9 years before they couldn’t be repaired anymore. The next are also blackjacks (custom ordered after re-enlisting and drinking a box of wine in eastern Afghanistan); Cavenders brand Pirarucu fish; my current daily use/ work boots by Andersen Bean (they’re my current all time favorite for comfort and durability); and the Giraffe boots on the far end. I’ve had them almost a year and they’re honestly getting better with age.

Like guns; there’s nothing wrong with looking good as long as it’s functional. And spending a little more goes a long way.

I have a pair of elephant that's like 15 years old. I firmly believe elephant is the best of the hides. Durable as hell. Only downside is they are hard to break in.

Only dress "shoes" I have are boots. Don't know brand off the top of my head. The ones I wear most are more work boots. They are lower cut and my Glock 43 fits well in the top in an ankle holster!

I condition my work boots once a week usually and walked through the mud just a couple hours before taking this. The wing tips are just dusty because I don’t wear them much and the others just don’t shine.

Elephant is what I was looking for when I got the Giraffe boots. It’s similarly rated as a “work boot leather” (according to lucchese) and so far I’m shocked at what hasn’t so much as scuffed them. Will be interesting to see how they fare over the years as they get demoted from dress boots to a more daily boot.

Depending on where you live, like Georgia for instance, it rained so damn much it would tear up any boots. It’s been two years since I lived there and I’m still getting that red dirt and mold smell out of all my shit...

Pennsylvania since I got those. It’s been raining for 3 years near as I can tell. I don’t work outside but my “office” has a shitty dirt parking lot and I’m on site a lot so they’re generally muddy a few times a week. Just always make sure to rinse them off, oil and condition as soon as their dry. It was not doing that religiously enough that did in the old, black pair.

Honestly they’re almost, if not even 100%, a do anything boot. You can dress them up, wear them casually, or work in them and they will protect your feet, look good, and if properly taken care of, last a really freaking long time.

I have 4 pairs - Lucchese black cherry, Tony Lama bull hide stockman in black, and 2 Tecovas - 1 in ostrich (black) 1 in python (brown). All are pretty comfortable although I wear them only occasionally. My favorite boots are Original SWAT. If I want to dress up and wear boots I have a pair of Allen Edmunds black wing tips. And Leather Honey is the best (in my opinion) although it will slightly darken the color. JackH

Heavy Smoke, Tecovas are great. Of my cowboy boots the black ostrich are my favorites. The Pythons cause a lot of comments - usually along the line of "Did you personally kill that snake?" I would be afraid to visit their store as I would just have more boots and a big bill afterwards. JackH

I have about six pair left, started wearing them back in the forties, mom said the first "shoes" on the feet were boots, wore them on and off through school, military couldn't see the sense in them told me to leave them home ,started up as soon as I came home and in the LEO fields. Old time Deputies would only wear them in my area mostly Olathe and Dan Post stove pipe tops 12" to 14" tall and about a number 4 toe, not quite cockroach toes ,but would leave an impression on ya. Mostly have Olathe and Dan Post still 2 pairs bought back in the early 60's made out of Elk, don't like ;izard or gator or snake, always have to buy them a size larger, and I'm not moving up to a 14EE!!! Dress up boots are hand made out of Texas, paid way to much for them, but their bull hide and will outlast me

Just read this thread. Brings back memories. Wore cheap boots wears ago on the farm, maybe 45 yrs ago. Wore dress shoes or sneakers thru my next life, then into "duty boots", black lace up w/ side zip, usually Rockies. Accompanied wife to her training to Dallas in the early 90's. Company took us to dinner and stopped at a boot outlet afterwards. Wasn't really looking but found a pair of elkhide boots that were just a little snug. Wore 'em on the flight home, no break-in necessary. Wore hell out of 'em over several years, new heels twice and soles once. Still have 'em but their kinda tight.

Sometime late 90's teen daughter got into line dancing. Went to the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville. Stopped at a boot store for her. Found a pair of J. Chisolm (for me) for $100!! Asked the salesman, if price was right. Ah, no, but if that's what they're marked....Checked his computer and the weren't in it. Took those home, wore them alot for dressier occasions. Liked the elkhide better.

May go boot shopping soon.

Stay safe.
Bob

These Anderson Bean Horsepowers have been a really impressive boot for what I paid (under $200). They’ve become my backup “work boots” since I’m not as worried about tearing them up but they’ve held up well.
