I have met several Tribe members and hope to meet more in the future so I’m putting this out here for all to see. If I ever become the old fart that has nothing better to do than come to the local range every day to interrupt the people that are actually trying to practice the art and science of killing, to regale them with stories of my shooting skills, please pick your favorite SI weapon and shoot me dead.

Seriously, WTF is it about a guy with one custom shotgun slung across his shoulder and another on the truck tailgate plus a target down range says please come talk to me and keep me from doing what I obviously came to the range to do? Fucking Fudds!

Anyway, I see this same dumbass every time I go there. Be kind, don’t let me be that guy.

Rant over, for now.

I will admit that there are times when I meet old friends at the range and shoot the shit more than I should. That's one of the reason's, that while I am a member of several local clubs, I hardly ever shoot at the local clubs. Fortunate to have a private gravel pit to train in where I can train safely according to ME and do what I see fit in the training session.

I can do anything that I feel comfortable doing out of the holster and movement is a given instead of the square range mentality. Damn, life is grand.

Yup, ‘tis the time of year for me to deal with that shit. I live in the far northeast, I’m lucky to have my own personal range on my property where I can do anything I want. But this time of year when it’s 13 degrees for a high and over a foot of snow on the ground, I will usually go to the indoor public range where ALL the rangersealparajumpergreenberets shoot. Usually they just walk away when I reel in my target. As my 25 yard target has significantly smaller groups than their 21 foot targets.

I still like like to get out on my snowshoes and do some shooting on my range, but sometimes I just don’t feel like throwing on all the layers, or waiting till spring to find that mag I dropped in the snow. At least the indoor range lets me draw from the holster...

I know what you mean.

Most people who met me know that I am polite and friendly. But when I am focused on training, I really don’t want to talk to anyone about anything and I don’t have much poker face about it. I am still polite but I am really not friendly. And I don’t feel too bad about it either. I see no problem being unapproachable when I am busy, and I don’t think it’s rude if I’m not friendly. They are the rude ones for interrupting someone that is clearly on task.

When at the gym, I am there to lift. When at the range, I am there to shoot. If you want to socialize, that is for a meal, a coffee, or a beer after the work is done. The first time I may be friendly but with a quick, "I am pressed for time and have work to do". The next time...not so much.

I hear ya, this type of person is why I’m going to build my own range on my own property.

I used to tell my wife, "If I ever talk about buying a mini van, just shoot me and plant me in the back yard."

Not there yet, just bought big old Expedition about 3 months back. An EL 4WD. Big as two minivans. And half the mpg, but that's cool.

I still have my private range but unfortunately it is in Florida and I am in New Mexico. Plan to semi retire in a few years and will split my time between the two places but for now it’s just a fond memory.
