I bought a Wrangler JKU this past fall, and I’m rolling with the top off this entire summer. I’d like to keep my 9” bbl. AR pistol in there in some kind of lockable case at least some of the time, particularly on longer road trips. Are there any particular cases/ safes or clever methods of doing this that you guys have found to work? Out of sight is preferred.

Cased with a cable lock through the mag well and out the ejection port. Plenty of places to secure it to under the back seat.

With rain & humidity concerns,
as well as the ability to conceal
it from theft, you need an
Amphibian.

I built a secure full length lock box under the back seat. Modified a pickup truck box and bolted the back seat to the lid. It raised the back seat up a few inches. Actually made it more comfortable to sit on.

Several folks make lockboxes of various sorts for Jeeps! I always liked the guys who decked and carpeted the rear and behind the seat making a (rather small) locking trunk!

That's what I did for our 1997 Wrangler.
I captured it under the seat belt ass'y.
Simple & effective.

I got a Bestop Instatrunk. Best Wrangler accessory ever! Bolt's right into the back (no drill) and uses the Jeep's own loading gate to lock. It's 11"X11"X35", so you should have plenty of room for an AR pistol.

Most people won't even notice it's there.

And you will also be able to carry a set of jumper cables without having them disappear every time you go into Walmart! :goofy:

I've been running Tuffy Security Products in my TJs for almost 20 years. This lock box was not available when I bought mine, but I trust the center console to secure a handgun while snorkeling in remote areas. It is not impervious, but it would take a significant effort to breach it. I have the console, glove box, wheel well boxes and behind rear seat box.

Who else opened this thread because your screen truncated the title at "topless"?

I was looking for some suggestions for firearm security at a gentleman's club.

Buddy had a topless Land Rover. Had the same dilemma. He piked up a police vehicle rifle rack at a swap meet. Doing a quick eBay search came up with this TUFLOC Electronic Locking Police Shotgun Rack With Key & Stock Plate Adjustable (https://www.ebay.com/itm/TUFLOC-Electronic-Locking-Police-Shotgun-Rack-With-Key-Stock-Plate-Adjustable/113739086697?hash=item1a7b60bb69:g:vnwAAOSwnvdc0Fh J) He had a traffic stop. Cop looked the locked AR over. Never said a thing. Oh, you'll need to secure the magazine separately. Neat installation. Just a thought.

The best I’ve been able to come up with for my two door JK is a Pelican 1620 padlocked with steel wire rope attached to the rear seat mounts. It fits behind the seat, barely, but holds a folded AR, plates, rifle support bag with spare pistol, BoK, and extra mags. And a few other things. It takes up 80% of the “storage” space I do have, so I’m looking for a sport bar mounted locking rack. So far, to no avail.

Thanks for all the replies. They gave me a decent idea of what is out there and where to start looking. My AR pistol will have a Law Tac folder on it shortly, so I’ve decided to keep it folded in a non-descript backpack locked in something like this. Haven’t decided on exactly which one yet.

Went with a more simple locking storage box that attaches to the inside of the tailgate.
