I got this as a gift - Navy Rum as originally issued to British sailors. It's 108 proof and smooth enough to sip straight.
Hoist the black flag!

It was issued as grog.
Grog is any of a variety of alcoholic beverages. The word originally referred to a drink made with water and rum, which British Vice Admiral Edward Vernon introduced into the naval squadron he commanded in the West Indies on 21 August 1740. Vernon wore a coat of grogram cloth and was nicknamed Old Grogram or Old Grog.

I've never been an officer.... My parents were married, but I'd take my ration straight, two cubes.

In Haitian Creole "grog" means "liquor." I guess that explains where that word came from!
If you get a chance try some Haitian rhum barbancourt...I understand it is excellent rum.

Hah and on closer inspection Petty Officers were also issued their rum neat.
The wife has found this rum with a splash of mexican bottle ( real sugar ) coke and a twist of lime is to her liking - might have to change the lock on the liquor locker
