Every man on my Dad's side of the family has high blood pressure and all of us end up taking BP meds in our late 20s.
So I had my blood work done yesterday and I get a call back from my doc that my testosterone levels are at 190 and they want me to take shots every two weeks.
Needless to say I'm not willing to go into this without doing my homework first

Unless he is planning on using a long lasting ester that im not familiar with, shots every two weeks are going to have your levels all over the place. Every two weeks was excepted protocol a long time ago but most practitioners now use a smaller dose injected twice a week. You may want to ask him about that

My brother and I both started getting shots at the same time. He started off every other week (per his dr) and I was going (and still am) every week. A few months in he was not seeing any difference and I saw dramatic results. His dr has since changed him to every week and he saw an immediate difference.

I'm not liking the lists of side effects I've been seeing. Increase risk of heart attack, mood problems, increased risk of prostate cancer the fact that your natural T production will decrease more than it already has.

CJ, there is an entire thread on Testosterone. Normal T levels...and that is not average normal for near-death-fat-dudes...are essential for long term health.

BTW, I have been doing T-supplements since April. I have tried different types and I am convinced a weekly sub Q injection is the gold standard. That and a doc that is fit, strong and understands optimal life of reasonable length as opposed to ending it in a death warehouse at 99.

Cut out bread and beer
Lift weights - eat protein and fat
Avoid environmental estrogens
I've been on the once a week shot for 6 months and before that the implanted pellets. Much better results with the shots and my "T" levels are consistently now > 900. The pellets were literally a "pain in the ass" and caused more side effects. BTW, I'm 63.
Hint from my doc, stay away from commercial milk and most milk products. They are full of female hormones... My doctor said he's seeing an extensive amount of 20 somethings with T levels like a young girl. He equates this to the adding of female hormones to cattle for higher milk production and to fatten up cattle. I quit all milk products and like Gabes says, eat more protein (organic beef). My doc even said to beware of tap water because it's not filtered for hormones. He stated that since the advent of the "pill" for women that they are flushing female hormones into the water supply. The doc even went further to say that he feels this is why we are seeing so many "gay" men or at least it is a contributing factor. My doctor as you would surmise isn't politically correct and one of many reasons I like working with him.

THIS!
I think that the key to a health management plan that you are happy with (aside from actually following it...) is to find an MD who lives the same kind of life that you aspire to. Associate with those you wish to emulate.
