Its been a long process. Testing, Physicals, more tests, Package, selection at Battalion and National level. Then Boot, followed by WOCS.
I got to go to Ft. Rucker (Mother Rucker) last week to see my son complete Warrant Officer Candidate School. My father (who also helped with the pre selection process) and my XO "Pinned" my son, who is now in the pipeline as a Aviator trainee. He want Apaches until he has enough seat time to try for the MH-6 at 160th SOAR (boy will green platoon be fun....not). Proud as hell of him (and as a proud dad had to drop a couple of pics here) . His expert marksman medal broke so wasnt on his uniform. I am looking forward to many visits to Alabama over the next couple of years. Below is the class "video" that each class at WOCS puts together, I think they did a pretty good job emulating the "Starship Troopers" recruiting intro, as well as a couple of pics of a newly minted WO1. Another warrior in the making.

Excellent!

Congratulations to you both.

For those not familiar with the story of the 160th SOAR, check out the book "Nightstalkers".

Outstanding! Congratulations to you all on a job well done!

My son often despairs of the quality of soldiers under his command, but what I see here and in the video gives me great hope for the Army and this country.

Contrast these warriors with the preening flabby tie-dyed flourescent-haired hermaphrodites I encountered at a restaurant in Carnation yesterday. That, too, shall pass.

If they would stop bouncing broken in old troops like I was it would be far less of a problem. Pair me with a troop my own age and injury or not I will preform better or if I have a bad day, just as well. Don't want to derail the thread form a young rotor jock getting one step closer to the golden cup. Mother Rucker is going to put him through his paces.

Well done and congrats to y'all!

Not to worry brother, He is actually looking forward to SERE-C and his worst worry is time in "bubbles" (the dead space between each course on the path to pilot). I wish they had a different retention strategy for troops myself.

Right on! Congrats! ...even if helichoppers are the end goal, haha. =P Seriously though, while I talk a lot of trash on helicopters, this fixed-wing aviator would jump at the chance to learn the witchcraft of the rotor world if given the opportunity. Best of luck in his continued training!

Quick side story, in the early 90's I was in a bar with a pilot for Southern Air Transport (Interesting history there) . They used our base and we met frequently. He was a fixed and rotor certified and ask me on time if I knew why helicopters fly. I said that I knew the basics of the physics involved when he cut in and said "I'll tell you why helicopters fly.....cause God thinks its funny, thats why!" I heard much the same thing from a CH-47 jock I knew back then.

On a ride in a Chinook, had a Warrant tell us during the safety brief. . . "If you EVER get on a CH-47 and there is NOT hydraulic fluid leaking from the hoses, get off the aircraft immediately because there is no hydraulic fluid left."
