Ok gentlemen I need a Hard sided suitcase Height+Length+Width not to exceed 60" ...
I'd like to buy this once and have it last half of forever if possible.
What am I looking for?

(A) Nothing is going to last forever.
(B) If you plan to use it for air travel, you also have to consider weight. If you get the big Pelican case, it weighs about 35#, which means you go into "overweight" territory after adding just 15# of kit.
(C) Look at the new Pelican Air series. They have some good options. The 1615 might be right, but it's right at your max dimensions.

Exactly. I bought a set of Samsonite hard shell (big case and carry-on size), and while it is very thin, it has held up admirably for over three years now, both domestic and international travel. When flying w/ my handgun, I usually lock my pistol-sized Pelican case to the handle ribs inside the liner. Haven't had an issue yet.

I travel via air weekly and have been using a Lojel hard sided case for 2 years and it is still going strong. I like the Lojel for a couple of reasons. First they are not very expensive, I believe I paid $150 from ebags. Secondly they use latches as opposed to zippers. I have seen hard (as well as soft cases) with the zippers popped open. I once saw a lady walking out of a hotel and her zippered bag kinda exploded because she had over stuffed it. When she tried to get everything back in she realized the zipper had ripped away at the seam and the bag was rendered useless. When I travel, I check firearms. The Lojel has the TSA locks built into the latch. I have had a couple of occasions where TSA has inspected my bag but forgot to re-engage the lock with their key and I had to go to see them to correct it. Also, I had one latch break because TSA didn't know how to operate it and Lojel sent me a new latch to replace it. Took a few minutes to swap it out. YMMV but I am fan of Lojel luggage.

I do this on a soft-sided suitcase. Never had a problem with TSA.

My 1650 was lugged all over many foreign beaches and jungles over the decades. Finally, the flip up handle for pull along use cracked at the hands of Nicaraguans attempting to strap it to a horse. Forgot about it for about five years and called Pelican.
After being advised of the problem, they told me the design had been changed. No replacement parts available.
They asked me to send a pic of the lid destroyed and sent me a new design 1650. That was pretty bitchen.
