View Full Version : 9 or 10?

I am finally getting around to a pdw. I have a Glock 20sf I could use, or a Gen 4 G17. Also a G21sf.

I would like to do the G20 for the flatter shooting 10mm but the 15 round magazine limit is killing it for me.

I have Kriss mags for the G21, but the basketball trajectory puts me off.

The G17 would require less fitting, and I have plenty of happy sticks, it shares magazines with my edc G17, so this looks like the best all around choice.

Am I missing anything?

G17 Gen4 will require just as much fitting (the endo is gen 3 only)

Yondering tried fitting an SF frame and it required too much. At least I think it was an SF frame

In any event I have the Endo he worked on and will fit it to a G41. It's going to require a bit more shaping but should work. But my point is that it takes a lot of removal

A gen4 G17 is a lot less work to fit the Endo to than a G20/21 SF frame. I did fit one to my SF frame, and wasn't satisfied with the results. I felt that the frame connection flexed too much when firing full power 10mm or .45, and because of that, the accuracy wasn't better than just the pistol by itself.

As a dedicated PDW, I really do like the idea of 10mm. Yeah the 15 round mags are what has kept me from going that route. Ive been told the Kriss extensions fit on 10mm mags--can anyone confirm? ALSO what is the availability of the Kriss extensions? Id be happy with a 5 round extension, like the ones Gabe made last year.

The OTHER option is 357SIG. Its almost but not quite 10mm; but it is available in larger capacity mags. Ive been quite happy with my RMRd G35/357SIG

There are a couple of guys that have modded Kriss 45 extensions to work with 10mm, but no store bought solution.

I'm kinda of on the same page, although I'm considering the mulitcal 9/40/357 setup as well.

If I lived out west I'd get a .45 with a 10mm conversion or maybe just use hardcast .45. Of course a .460 Rowland would be tempting as well and 9x25 is a screamer!

It's hard to dispute the effectiveness of having a pdw that'll eat edc mags though.

I fitted the Endo for my G17 gen 4. It took all of 15 minutes with a file, and is a snug fit.

is this the mag release I need?

I am hesitating on the safety. I will likely carry it without one in the chamber.

No, that's a gen 3 mag release. Why do you "need" a different mag release for yours? The gen 4 release is already much larger than the gen3, and doesn't need to be extended.

I can't reach it with my strong side hand

Gabe mentioned (maybe on Facebook) that he's coming out with a PDW magazine release quite soon.

Great. I hope it works with gen 4

I've toyed with the idea of getting a second lower as a dedicated PDW. I'd put the safety, extended mag release etc on that one and leave it on the Endo and have another lower for carry. Share a good SI upper between the two.

Great. I hope it works with gen 4

None of the gen3 mag releases work with gen 4. They are completely different parts, there is no interchangeability.

What's I meant was, I hope Gabe comes out with a Gen 4 extended mag release.

I had a chance to take my pdw to the range yesterday. I also added a Law folder I had taken off an AR pistol.

It was better than I expected. Better accuracy at distance, but the real eye opener was shooting 8" steel plates. I doubled the usual distance and still shot more accurately, quicker, than my pistol at normal distances.

It was probably 35 yards to the closest target, and 45 yards to the farthest one .

I also ran some hotter Underwood 115 gr +p+ quite sure easily. It has a lot of muzzle flip in the pistol only config., but was very controllable in the pdw, and I think it is flatter shooting at distance.

I've since put a suppressor on it. I have some 147 HST, and some Remington 147 Golden Sabers. At 100 yards the GS grouped well, with the best group at 3.5" from a rest. The HST wouldn't even all stay on paper.

Problem is, the GS isn't bonded (and has a problem with jacket separation in gel testing) so I ordered some bonded GS for carry ammo.
