Wow Ive had some damn fine guns in my life and Ive passed on some really fine ones. I had a 1911a1 made by Singer Sewing Machine Co (I think they made less than a 1000); but sold to a buddy because I wanted a Browning Hi Power (never bought the Hi Power for some reason). I had an original Cz75 (had to be imported first to Canada, then to the US because of import bans from Communist countries. I sold it because I couldnt get spare mags. I sold my UZI to buy something that I probably dont have any more. I had two Detonics Combat Masters and a double Alessi shoulder holster and a Milt Sparks "6 pac" because thats what Jerry Ahern said John Thomas Rorke carried--I sold'em to buy a ASP pistol that my PD decided I couldnt carry off duty. At least I still have the Steyr SSG69. Dont even ask about the Barrett M107 that I had to have... and the MG34, or the STEn or or or...

I also passed on a 4 digit Python because I wanted a shotgun. At least I bought a Military marked M12 complete with handguard but no bayonet. I had a sweet Government Model in 38Super, because thats what the FBI carried in the 30s (G Gordon Liddy said sooooo). It shot 38auto in one hole groups and 38 Super was still smaller than a kids fist; but I sold it because factory ammo didnt meet major class in ISPC. i passed on a Bushmaster Arm gun and a Valmet M82 Bullpup not sure why anymore, only that I was "that" close to buying them. Then there were the two HK91s that I sold to pay for a divorce after I got a Dear John letter in the Gulf. Looking back it was a cheap deal (but dont ever get your lawyer from the "Value Pack Coupons" ad....)

I bought then sold then bought back a Ruger No1, that JDJones of SSK Industries rebuilt in 577Nitro, in case my 470 Merkel isnt enuf; but I still want a 4 Bore. I found a guy that will make one (cartridge or muzzle loader); but I keep thinking how much hunting I can do with my 470 and 577 for the $$$ Id spend on the 4 bore....still the 4 Bore is an itch I cant seem to scratch.

Im not complaining; but I do have some wishes. I dont see a huge need for anything, besides a Grenade Launcher and a Flame Thrower and some real Artillery and a AFV, Ok and a Honey Badger.

Come'on I cant be the only one.....

A few years ago I ran across a Singer 1911 at a shop in NJ. Owner wanted $100,000 for it and claimed that was reasonable for that gun. But I'm sure you suspected as much.

There's nothing all that fancy in my own collection.

A Colt Combat Python. Limited edition that they ran on Lew Horton's specs. 3" barrel, orange inlay front and white outline rear sights. The pinnacle of fighting revolvers back in the day. One of 500, I think and I let it go because revolvers just didn't make the grade anymore...Idiot!

Had a few nice 1911's come and go. But they're still making 'em last I checked. Only one I kinda miss is my Baer because damn that was a nice 1911.

I found a well used Python for $400 and bought it just because. Had it refinished for $250 (Cogan, great work by the way), and not long after that a guy offered me $1000 on the spot. So I don't have that Python anymore.

Had a python for about a week, guy kept begging to get it back, and I caved.
I know the ppk/s isn't spectacular, but mine was made in France by manurhin, never seen another one.
Sold the amt 1911 7" hardballer I just had to have. Man, that pistol was accurate.
I had a 1919a4 I had built, Israeli in 308, sold that.
That cool cz26 semi carbine that I posted on here several years ago is gone. For several years, it was the only one in existence.
Sold the winchester 1876 in 45-60.
Had a lew Horton s&w 686, 2", round butt, let that go.
Let go my s&w model 25 4" also.
Had a little break open revolver made by marlin in the late 1800s, the only revolver they ever made. Made a little over 5000 of them.

Passed on a valmet in 308.

I still got my uzi.
Still got the b&t tp9 sbr.
Still got my auto mag 180.
Finally got a real hi power. Fn mk 2.

3" Python, Novak Hi-Power, Wilson CQB, Les Baer, and Ed Brown. The ONLY one I miss, the Novak Hi-Power! In today's gunfighting, the slick Novak rear sight would suck, because you couldn't manipulate it one-handed. It still shot like a dream, and I love it to this day.

Singers. When I was in the Army back in the late 70's there were three or four of them in our company armory. At that time the Blue Book of Gun Values said they were worth about $2800 each. We used to talk about whether or not it would be worth it to check one out of the armory and "lose" it. None of us ever figured it was though. I wonder where those guns are now? Only one Colt in the whole armory. There were Singers, Ithacas, Remington Rands, a couple Union Switch & Signal 1911's, but only one Colt. How odd was that?

I don't guess I have much that is odd, or rare. I have an old Colt Frontier Scout revolver. A Remington 03A4 with the little 3/4" Weaver scope on it. A Browning BDM 9MM (don't see many of them, but they aren't really rare). A Colt 1911 made in 1917 with the US Government markings on it (looked almost new when I bought it 40 years ago and I've only had it to the range once in the last 30 some years).

I have some older guns but most of them are family guns and were well used, but taken care of by the family that owned them.

Edelweiss, don't bother with the 4-bore. If you're going to get a cannon, get a proper cannon. I've got a hankering for a 12-pdr Napoleon myself. The only problem being how to transport the thing...you need a trailer, then a truck to tow the trailer.

The only gun I really regret selling was the Walther GSP. Yes, I bought a Hammerli 280, but I miss that old Walther.

The guns I Wish I'd Bought include a Colt Python. $500 in 1991. But I wanted the guy's Gold Cup more... That, and I wish I'd bought the high-end muzzle-loaders Hege made when they came out. Yes, I've got them now, but I should have gone directly to the good stuff when I was younger.

I want the 4 Bore because I picture my self and HeadShrinkHer taking a year long safari dressed in Khaki and pith helmets.... but I also want a Howdah pistol in 577 Snyder, and a blooded set of dueling pistols....

Oh and as for the cannon, Im thinking a 75mm Pack gun....its towable with a Jeep

Don't you already have a cannon? I seem to recall using a quote of yours on my wife saying "I didn't want one but someone in the neighborhood needed one and I didn't see anyone else stepping up."

I do but its only a 1 pounder (golfball size). Its good for "down the street" but a 75mm well thats ahhhh, way to say "you didnt leave when I asked you nicely so now its game on...". I suppose a mortar would do; but why limit yourself???

Bro if I make the leap for a 75mm, its gonna be live! Ok yeah just solid or canister projos; but not a muzzle loader. I already passed on a 37mm cannon. A 57mm is tempting but its a 75mm thats calling me. Hmmmmm that kinda makes the 4 Bore almost seem practical

The pistols are easy enough (if expensive), provenance would be tougher.

Display cases? I would think more likely hanging on hooks above doors, tucked under cushions and other handy places

My stories aren`t as illustrious. I had a W1300 that I loved to death, so much so that I had a custom barrel made for it, a 20-inch non-vent rib. I loved that gun to hell and back, and had a great time shooting it. I didn`t realize just how much I loved it as much as I did until I traded it off for something I can`t remember. Always wanted one again but never got around to it. Maybe next gun, or the one after that?
Then there was the Sporterized Mauser 1909. That had NO value left in it, it was pretty hefty for a sporter and would cost more to rehab into milspec than the rifle was worth (to most people). It was payment for helping a friend move for about a year. Same as with the W1300 I didn`t realize how much it meant to me until after that friend passed away.
Sorry, Mark. I know you understand.

My grandfather was issued an M1A1 carbine when he joined the USAF in the 1950s, and snuck it home he claims. He sat on it for a while, just taking care of it until my uncle was old enough to appreciate it, so he gave it to him.
He promptly sold it for car parts. My uncle is a car guy, not a gun guy. Grampa says he`d have kept it on hand to go into my arsenal if he knew I`d turn out the way I did.
