Needs more G18 LOL...

We should have taken pics/video of that G18 in AZ.

We should have taken pics/video of that G18 in AZ. This is the one of interest to most of us. My question is how effective is a G18 in full auto? Unfortunately one can not legally set their glocks up in such a mode even though from what I understand the selector switch set up on the back plate is not that hard to arrange.

The G18 is basically the balistic way to say, "F you and anyone in your general vicinity".

The switch can go on any Glock. When I was in the Philippines last month I shot with a guy who has on on his 26 and other guy with on on his 17 but I did not see them shoot them full-auto. The guy with the 17 also has the Israeli stock.

I'm not exactly sure what a full-auto Glock 26 would be used for, but it could just be a case of being able to buy one and then buying it just because you want it.

Ammunition is more expensive there so people don't burn up ammunition when practicing as much as they do here.

Maybe Gabe could file for an SOT and make his own...

Or you can shoot your way through the floor like Kate Beckinsale did in Underworld. Except she had 92FS's.

I have shot one, although not very much. At seven yards one handed, it can be kept on a Q target if used in reasonable bursts. Two handed you can stretch to 15 yards. I imagine with some practice it could be done a little farther out. I wish that I could have gotten some more time in with it.

Looks like fun! (IF someone else is buying ammo!:naughty:)

I got to shoot the G18 at the Glock factory in Smryna. with 2 hands I could only keep 6-8 rounds on the q target firing full auto. On comparison I can empty a 17 rd mag out of a G17 in about 3 seconds while keeping the hits all on a q target at 5-7 yards. Now the G18 was a blast to shoot, I would not spend the money or the hassle to buy a G18 if that were possible for a lowly civilian.

We wrote a proposal and tested one for the shield guy on the team..... Was fun, but useless. Perhaps stocked it would have been better ( but not for a shield guy). Was relegated to " cool but useless for our mission". Lots of fun if someone else is buying the ammo

A friend of mine went to Venezuela back in the 90s, and had the same experience with G18 conversions that I had looking at suppressors on the shelves in New Zealand. He found a simple drop-in full-auto conversion for the Glock that you could buy at a gun store for about $20. He was rolling one around in his fingers and wondering if Customs would be able to figure out what they were if he had a dozen or so of them in his luggage. He decided to not chance it.

There are unfinished ones for sale in the US. I accidentally found them online once and my understanding was you basically file down some small interior part and install it and you have a select fire Glock.
One of those things that's not worth the legal ramifications of getting caught. If it was legal, sure, I'd own a full auto Glock. Being as blatantly illegal as it is, I don't want one that bad.I'll bet the website links right back to the ATF. It's like buying grow lights from the DEA's front.

I would not do it, but someone handy with the tools that are present in many men's homeshops could likely fashion one. My conclusion is that the possible benefits of such an item versus the negatives does not make the risk acceptable.

Always thought the Beretta 93R with the 3 shot burst and the built in fore grip would be useful, even without the stock.

I've shot those too. I really liked that one.

Wow I wanted a 93R baaaaad when I worked EP for a 3 Star in The Gulf. The closest I got was 20 round mags for my issued M9; but I had to get my folks to send them from home...

Bingo. Stocked, this is a totally different idea - much like the difference between FA rifles from the shoulder and from a bi-/tripod.

Which is, I think, why Gabe's bringing up the topic right now...

yep, didn't get a chance to test it in that mode, and could see its utility.

Without a stock and with 2 hands firmly on the gun, the gun will rise after the first shot, but after a few more shots you'll get it back on target. It's a hoot, but the tactical advantage is limited.

I'd like to try one of those. Nifty concept.
