I got home last evening and was greeted by one of the boys telling me "Dad you got a package!!"....I opened it to find this absolutely gorgeous piece of Deadly O-1 steel "Art". A dress knife that in keeping with the attributes of a fighting knife; It's Sharp as HELL and Pointy as F*#K

Chambers and Nichols got together and gifted it to commemorate my rapidly approaching retirement. The custom scales, scabbard, and blade work were all done by John's own hands.

I am truly touched at the thoughtfulness of this gesture and wanted to publicly express my thanks to both brothers John and Greg; fratres in aeternum.....

Bon Vivant in every sense of the word.

Beautiful cutter! I don`t think I could bring myself to ever use it, maybe put it in a shadowbox on the wall and clean it every now and then?

With a small tag "In case of ISIS, break glass".

Nice piece!

With a small tag "In case of ISIS, break glass".

Nice piece!

I used to have a friend who was the definition of superfan, he was crazy about Jurassic Park, the originals. He had a glass case custom made to mount on the wall, it held his SPAS-12 (bought because of the movie), a set of khakis and a few reloads. The tag said IN CASE OF VELOCIRAPTORS, BREAK GLASS. Beautiful knife , can`t stop looking at it.

Now if you can just use it to get a CONUS or OCONUS knife kill before retirement. 😉

Indeed a very nice and no doubt deserved gift. Is it the same pattern as the Universal Fighting Knife and just polished and dressed up or is it a different pattern?

That is gorgeous. The look is reminiscent of a Marine officer's sword. Even the coloring on the sheath evokes a bit of "blood stripe." That is truly beautiful.

That's a beautiful blade. What is the handle made of?

Had some questions about the project, so here a few details.

The knife itself is the UFK (Thanks Boss!) that I hand polished to 2000 grit and then sharpened. The handle material is aged ivory micarta that is VERY dense and in all honesty is more like a corian than conventional paper or linen micarta. It gives a very close to ivory color, and ages too. The sheath is leather and was hand cut, dyed, and stitched. There is a message to the colors that has nothing to do with the USMC. The black signifies the darkness that is an ally to all who operate on the sharp end, and the maroon is for the Airborne. But most importantly, it is pretty and works for formal affairs.

Work like this is a labor of love for me, I only do it for friends and family and I am really pleased with how this one turned out in both the results of the project, and the fact that Sua liked the end result.

A one of a kind beauty.

Truly well done, Mr. Chambers.
