Thought I'd share a victory with you all.

Monday I start a job with Dell as a software engineer. 40% increase in pay...great benefits...a great job.

The almighty put a big fat galleon in my sights...and I took it. :)

Nope in Utah. Though TX is on my radar. I'd move there if an opportunity opened up once school is done.

nfamous...if someone wanted to find me...there are a million other ways to track me down. This makes me no more exposed than owning a home or having a linkedin profile.

Further I have no skeletons in my closet from my past to hunt me down.

Maybe you do but I have no illusions of being a secret squirrel / Jason Bourne.

Oh that's not why I posted. You are proud of your new job, as you should be (and why I said congrats)... but whether you like it or not, or believe it or not, large corporations monitor social media. You've given a name, office, and start date... on this site. I'd rather see you prosper and succeed vs having a shorter than expected tenure.

Or you could start your own company and not deal with these things.

Congrats. And I agree with the above.

I recommend 2 "personas". 1 profile on all the various social networks for all your public work. Think of it as being your own PR person. The other profile for things like this.

You may want to be the pirate that boards a very un-gun-and-non-violence-friendly ship one day.

My Facebook has quite a lot of libertarian/anarchist stuff on it, which I can quite cogently defend as a rational political choice without frightening people. But only family and one good friend know anything about my WT persona, because that would just frighten everyone.

I'm still jealous of your near-perfect username for this place.

Seriously, you play tag with a greyhound bus (or whatever you call them down there in SA) and lose ... I've got first dibs on taking over your username. Zack can work his magic for me.

A guy is driving down the road, when he sees a hitch hiker. Looks like a hippie, so he pulls over and feels very safe letting him in the car.

They're driving along and chatting, when they come to an intersection. The hippie's hair is in the way, so the driver asks him if there's any approaching traffic. Hippie says: "Nah, man, just a big dog." (I imagine this in a Tommy Chong voice).

Driver takes off, and wakes up three days later in hospital. Lying in bed next to him is the hippie. Driver asks: "What happened? You said there was just a big dog!" Hippie: "Yeah man, a greyhound."

Thanks for the concerns for my personal OPSEC. I'll take those into consideration for the future. :D
