Family friend is into big bore black powder rifles out to the farm. He’s got some really interesting pieces 40 -65, 45-70 Gov 45-90 Gov , 50-90 and the monster 50-140 3-1/4” also known as the eargershplittingloudenboomer …

#2 son and his buddy are bringing a truck load of pumpkins and setting them at 200 to 500 yards on a hill side on the farm. We’ll set up camp tomorrow hang an iron pot over a fire to cook some chili

A 50 cal, 600 grain paper patched boolit into a pumpkin at 400 yards or so is big fun!

I think the most fun for the young guys is the ‘load your own’ rule with the smaller rifles. He’s got a reloading tool for each caliber – looks like a nut cracker with reloading dies screwed in. You have to load your own ….

Like being hit by a cement truck a 1 mph - the recoil just keeps pushing you back - 50-140 will have you standing on one leg if you don't lean in good

It'll be soy beans next year and the deer / birds will eat most of it --- hmmm guess I know where I'll bow hunt next weekend

Used to do a lot of black powder shooting.
If he has the room for a 1000 yard range, try out the 50-140. You actually have time to set up and watch your shot hit the target.

Me and the preacher did the same thing last year with his pumpkins/jack o lanterns (painted faces). But we only used .243's, and at 75 yards. Still fun!

I had a serious lust for a 2Bore rifle (as in each ball weighed 1/2 pound). Now Im still jonesing for a 4Bore cartridge rifle; but its a question of either the rifle or the safari, so I think the big tusker will have to be satisfied with my .577 Nitro

4 Bore
