I'm in the market to replace my light blue dress shirts and dress pants. I was prepared to pay full price without shopping around, but I just hit 3 department stores, and found 0 shirts or pants to my liking. The service was poor, and the advice dubious. No wonder brick-and-mortar stores are biting the dust. I'm tired of wasting my gas and my time on this, so that leaves the Internet.

I know exactly what I want. Where is the best place to get it???

I get some on Amazon just to make it easier to return. I've found that finding shirts that fit me properly is tricky. Lands End is fairly good come to think of it.

Alex, Chris, have y'all gotten a Costco in Columbia yet? I heard one was on the way last time I was down there. Hard to beat their Kirkland dress shirts for price/quality/fit. You could always take a trip up to Spartanburg, I guess...

Also, have you tried Men's Wearhouse? I've always received great service in their stores. They tend to be pricier, but I know they're currently running a BOGO on shirts.

Another vote for Lands' End. Being owned by Sears hasn't ruined them yet. I really like their dress shirts. The traditional oxford is heavy and well-made.

Last I heard, local politicians killed it "to save small businesses." Yeah, right!

+1 for Mens Wearhouse. I've always had good experiences with them. I've bought several suits online, the jackets fit perfectly but the pants usually need to be hemmed. Anything you buy online can be taken into the store and altered (for a price) while pants and coats they will press for free. I like to capitalize on their BOGO sales which they have once a month or so. They also always have deals on stuff online.

Jos A Bank suits have gone a bit downhill in recent years, but I still wear their shirts. The "tailored" (slim waist) "traveler" (no-iron) shirts fit my needs.

I set up my wardrobe like a line of uniforms. Once I find a shirt that I like, I'll get six of them and just rotate left to right. Every night, my wife spends 15-20 minutes figuring out what she is going to wear the next day. I get up and grab whatever is next in the rotation.

With socks, I buy eight matching pair at a time. I don't have to waste time matching up my socks from the laundry. If I lose one, it's no big deal--I haven't lost an entire pair; I just keep it in the rotation, knowing that eventually I'll lose another.

Thanks for that information. I stopped by a local store today, found my perfect shirt, and one almost perfect shirt in my size. I just ordered 4 more on-line. The non-iron aspect of the traveler shirts is very appealing to me, and this weekend there was no sales tax on clothing sales in SC. :finger:
