When I was young I used to read tons of books. Usually it was military history, science fiction or fantasy fiction (fantasy as in they had swords and magic [NEVER google the word "fantasy" when the young'uns are in the room!).

I found I missed reading a good tale and while I can still find plenty of military history to read I miss the lighter stuff.

The modern offerings in science fiction and fantasy are completely polluted with the modern american liberal agenda. I don't mind that there is market for that sort of thing but more traditional themes seem to have been crowded out by it.

At some point I am going want to read stories to the young ones and after I get done with the classics I will need more material.

I have found one publisher in Finland that puts out this stuff (http://www.castaliahouse.com/).

Does anyone know of any other publishers that put out the sorts of stories that I would want to read to the kids? I want to see if I can influence some ankle biters to maybe become future Tribe members.

As far as Sci-Fi I've heard good things about Robert Heinlein (sp?) and Marko Kloos, though I've admittedly never read either. Heinlein was a self reliant, pro gun individual and the same with Kloos.

Robert Heinlein - yes, absolutely. In fact, he wrote a series of "juvenile" stories which are still fun to go back and read. Poul Anderson with his "Dominic Flandry series" is always good. Harry Harrison's "Deathworld Trilogy" of stories was pretty good too. All stuff written back in the 1950's, 60's, and later. Lots of fun.

Yup. Those are the classics.

Mote in God's Eye, Ring World, Starship Troopers....those were the days.

I'm a big fan of Larry Correia's writing. The books aren't particularly deep, but they're a rollicking good time.

Dude! I just finished reading The Martian, by Andy Weir! I couldn't recommend it enough! I literally couldn't put it
down. It was one of the best fictions I've read in a really long time.

Otherwise, my go to fiction novelist is Clive Cussler

If you have not already done so, read Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. I have one from back when he self-published it, and it's still my favorite, because it was written especially to appeal to a gun-nut audience. His Grimnoir trilogy is particularly good as well, but may appeal more to adults than to children due to the alternate history aspect.

Larry Correia is published by Baen. They are the Fox News of the SF world. Other publishing houses hate them with the special hatred that commies reserve for non-commies. IIRC, Castalia House is associated with writer Vox Day, who is possibly the most hated man on the internet (by liberals who pretend to read books), so that was a good find. I have not read any of his work yet.

That seems like an excellent reason to go out of my way to buy from Baen Books and Castalia House.

I had Larry Correia on my "To Buy" list already. I will add Vox Day as well. Anyone the Libtards are shunning must have written some good stuff.

And thanks everyone for all the other suggestions. There's nothing worse than trying out a book only to find it stuffed full of PC crap.

I will buy the books, and unless somehow the writing falls really short, I WILL post reviews on Amazon.

David Weber, John Ringo (he wrote about the only zombie fiction I actually like because he set everything up properly so as to make sense), Tom (I think) Kratman. I think Ringo and Weber are with Baen.

He's listed as a non-fiction writer, but Stephen Hunter writes excellent gun related thrillers with Bob Lee Swagger as the protagonist. Point of Impact is one of his best reads that they made into the movie "Shooter". Although the movie is a far cry from the quality of the book, the Bob Lee series is certainly worth the time
