Seeing Edelweiss's Hide out gun post and Jesselp's not practical or tactical post, gotta add: Guy brought a NAA mini-revolver in to the shop a few days ago. So what? Well, sports fans, it was a freaking black powder revolver. Guy loaded 4F and .22 round balls and capped the nipples. Said .22 pellets would also work. That think's gotta be a freaking HOOT!!!

Well maybe you can cut his head off OR again maybe you cant. Ive had my ass kicked before to the point that I know I couldnt have wielded a bowie but Im pretty sure I could have pulled a trigger if help hadnt come. As for the NAAs specifically or the HIDEOUT guns in general (the other thread), I dont see them as a back up-just a last ditch FUuuuuuuu

I get that the tiny guns give tiny results and may even fail frequently, and your point is well taken. I once knew an old cop (yep older than me), who was so freaked by the Onion Field incident, that he started each day by slipping a Baby Browning in his sock and running a strip of masking tape above it so it would stay in place inside his sock. He knew 25acp was pitiful even compared to his 38 special he was issued; but he said it was better than begging not to be shot....BTW he also taught me to tape a single edge razor blade inside the back of my belt and carry extra cuff keys where I could reach'em when cuffed.

So yep I have my Gang Unit; but a "binky gun" for a HIDEOUT isnt as horrible as it may sound

The Baby Browning and the NAA are not in the same class: one is reliable and the other is not. One is shootable and the other is not. One can easily be used with one hand and the other cannot. I have never seen a properly maintained Baby Browning fail to function with FMJ. On the other hand...NAAs SUCK.

So, John if Im hearing you right, youre not opposed to the concept, just the NAA Minis?

Exactly. I've carried a 3rd level OSG (Oh Shit Gun) in other times and places. But even that gun worked and was usable.

so what would you recommend that shirt pocket tiny and light weight? I like my Guardian (its a NAA too); but its twice the weight of one of the Mini gun revolvers.

Re: the OSG... My recollections from my past life in uniform, was of that being referred to as an "Onion Field Gun".

Y'all missed my point. Not an argument re: OSG's. Just a fun amusement! Hold my beer and watch this kinda thing.

That's a tough one. Of things currently produced, I'd probably go with a Kahr micro .380. Seecamp .32 is great, but it is only reliable with .32 Silvertips. Tried to find any of those lately? This is kind of crazy, but I have never seen a Beretta Jetfire fail to function with FMJ. If you can find one of the later Berettas in .22 or .25, they usually work reliably, with good ammo.

My experiences with the NAA 22 Mag and Pug have been very good. Lots of snakes have met their doom while checking fence lines. The new Seecamps are reported to function with Hornady XTP, Gold Dot, Silvertips etc. John's recommendation of the Kahr P380 is a good one as well.

2.) your comfort zone

I carried a Keltec P38T for a long time as a backup to my backup. Never failed to fire no matter what I fed it. With the clip attached to it, I could carry it in my pocket like a knife and it only looked as if I had a knife...not a gun. My brother still has his and it is with him always. It is easy to shoot one handed or two and packs a much bigger punch than any .22, .25 or .32. Now I have to entertain getting another one...

The advantage of this non-cartridge replica of an antique MIGHT be that it MIGHT NOT be a firearm under various laws, federal and possibly state, YMMV. That MIGHT mean that it's not illegal where "firearms" are illegal, such as in the hands of a felon or concealed without a needed permit or in certain NPEs. IANAL and expect to be mistakenly arrested and pay a lawyer to get your charges dropped, but this might be useful for some folks.

Not me, for that size & weight, I can use my P32.

From the OP I'm not seeing anything anything other than what we all have "I NEED this" If we are talking NPE again its been beaten to death and there are FAR better options in 9mm. I sold my PPK, Seecamp and every other smaller caliber. Kept a couple .38's and have .22's for training students.

Blackpowder????? NAA????

Just me but if you got to the point where you need one of these your probably already dead. Just my .02…this is America and we have choices. Have at it.

YEP that's the whole point

Guys Im not pushing NAAs. I do like'em and haven't seen the problems John has, still, I suspect hes seen a lot more of them than me. I chose a NAA Guardian over the Keltec, because anything seemed better than the Keltec, OTOH the NAA weighs almost a 1lb loaded and the Keltec less. I have both the 32acp Tomcat and the .22 version, plus I used to have the .25acp version. The smaller ones (22 and 25) carried well enough in a "Push Up" holster; but they are "THICK". The Tomcat is almost as big as a PPK and the PPK is almost as big as a Browning NDA 380.

Its the almost that gets you.
