I'm flying to Belgrade next week, mostly hanging out with military types, but also doing a quick drive to Sarajevo (stopping off to see Srebrenica en route) then back again to Belgrade to fly out. I travel internationally quite a lot, but this is my first time in that neck of the woods. All guidance on that AO gratefully received.

Thanks.

The battery factory is sobering, I'll just leave it at that. In Sarajevo, head down to the city center and the market district, it's a great place to visit. I also found the old synagogue to be a very cool piece of architecture. IIRC, there is also an old brewery that is pretty neat too.

Thanks John, good intel. Did you drive to Srebrenica? Is seeing it worth the hassle of navigating the roads? (I hear they're pretty basic)

Drove, air assaulted, rucked in, etc. It is worth going, but I won't say it's enjoyable. The roads are ok, just remember that Bosnians are the worst drivers in Central Europe. :)

And that's saying something!

Amen! I was there in 96, not a whole lot of fun! But we definitely tore up some shit on our way down from Hungary. Some of the roads where just wide enough for our HUMVEE's and that was our small equipment! The 18 wheelers, and our 20 ton dumps helped with widening the roads!
