Wanting to simplify and upgrade my wardrobe. Want to look grown-up professional, but my AO is too hot and too casual for suits or ties most of the time. So I'm thinking a simple closet of slacks, chinos, polos, and button-up shirts, all of which could be mixed and matched with little thought, and I could add a blazer when I want to be a little more dressy.
Here's the thing: 1) I HATE ironing and 2) I don't want to have to go to the dry cleaners all the time and spend so much money and time maintaining my clothes.
Any good wrinkle-free items and brands you guys recommend? Added bonus if they're breathable, durable, and low maintenance. I've had bad results with wrinkle-free in the past wearing out quickly or still requiring ironing after so many wash cycles. Is there a real solution here or am I just dreaming?

Wife does more travel that any human being I know...she is on her third passport in 8 years, customs guys struggle to find a page to stamp most times...I am simply amazed at how good her clothing looks after being stuffed in a suitcase for days on end, repacked and flown to another city and hotel...she is sporting a lot of heavier weight synthetics...over the years she has learned what will work...she also carries a small steamer...looks like a blow dryer kinda for any wrinkles that pop up...
If I were you I'd hit a Mens Warehouse or higher end mens clothing store that caters to professionals and have them hook you up...they deal with biz travelers daily...they will be able to get you going...once you find out the brands and fabrics that work you'll be able to figure it out yourself...

Claiborne wrinkle free slacks are really good, you have to try to wrinkle them. I like the Vanhusen (sp?) or JAB wrinkle free for shirts.

Stay away from wool and cotton. Go with a synthetic blend. I travel 40 weeks of the year and have to wear suits. So wear silk sport coats. They are very light and cool in hot weather and they don't wrinkle if you get a looser weave. I go for the tweeds and herringbone styles that mimic wool. I avoid the shiny "Asian mobster" duds.

There is a company out of NY called bluff works. There motto is you can go to work all day, out all night & crash on someone's couch wearing the same pants, then back to work again. I have a couple pairs & they are ZERO maintenance and look good. The back pockets fit a smart phone perfect & zips closed. Worth every penny.

Lol do it all day every day--it's the only place I find room without wearing it on the belt!
When I sit down it comes out and gets placed as far away from me as reasonably possible just in case we find out in 20 years all that radiation exposure was a bad thing...

That was the one I was thinking about, heard Tim Ferriss raving about it.
There is some catalog company completely devoted to Travel attire and equipment, their clothing always looked interesting for your purposes, I share the same needs down here in South Florida.

I work in a business casual environment and I wear only 5.11 taclite pro pants. I commute by bike and I roll these babies up and they unroll without a wrinkle. Unlike most pants with cargo pockets they don't stick out everywhere and look like you slept in them. Bonus = 2 ar or ak mags fit in the slash rear pockets. I use dry fit polos. You can always find them on sale and they also take packing and rolling just fine.

I wear a lot of REI Adventure pants and JosABank wrinkle-free, trim-fit shirts. There is also some Ex Officio and Royal Robbins (not the 5.11 stuff).

I travel a lot for work. Wear 5.11 Covert Khakis every day. They only come in Black and tan, but I don't mind because it makes it easy to dress around. As far as shirts go, there are a plethora of options in poly cotton blends that are pretty much wash and wear. I'm also a huge fan of Scottevest products. I am using the light weight travel vest and it is a great article of clothing.
