Little Spoon and I hit his favorite sushi place. Nothing better than Kirin Ichiban, raw sea creature, and a brother's companionship!

Funny, I just had Sushi along with stuffed clams and scallops! Plenty of wassabbi with a dash of soy sauce.

There is a Sushi place on Oahu that remembered us from three years earlier. We ate their entire supply one night...that and the Sapporos.

Interesting timing for this thread. I just got back from the Japanese grocery with all the fixin's for a father daughter project of learning how to roll our own sushi.

There are a bunch of sushi places close to my work and we've been working our way through all of them the past several weeks. Loves me some sushi...

Being in Japan as I am, there is obviously no shortage of great sushi out here. Tako, ika, unagi,and anago are my faves.

Be sure to try out the danger fish while there. Tastes like chicken, but at least you can say you did it.

So then theres that moment when you realize that the bottle of Templeton Rye that the bartender cracked the seal on for you and your buddy a few hours ago is gone, the bill is over $100.00, you've been going snifter for snifter with someone who has you by 80lbs, you have to work tomorrow, and you can't feel your legs.

Fun story.

Number one son was freshman in HS one fine fall evening he and two of his buddies from Scouts and their three young lady NOT girlfriends were out on a NOT a date of a dinner and movie with myself and the wife as driver.

We were going to a Japanese Hibachi place. Get there and find out the hibachi is down but they still have sushi. Long faces , wrinkled noses and we were headed for the door when a very dignified Japanese gentleman, actually the owner, gets them to come in try some ‘beginner sushi’.

He started them with edamame and Japanese pickles. Then some vegetarian sushi. Before long he had them eating spicy tuna rolls and octopus and sea urchin and who knows what else. I think we tried everything he had in the place. Spent so much time eating missed the movie start.

Come time for the check I figured it was going to be UGLY, nope he charged like $10 each. Good times.

Do you mean fugu, the Japanese blowfish? Thanks, I already had it in Hong Kong 3 years go, was deelish.

Yup, that's the stuff! Had a platefull of it prepared in various styles on a vacation to Tokyo. Was pretty tasty.

Do you recall what place in HK you had it? I find myself there a bit for work.
