The Wife, 8Y/O daughter would like to try an all inclusive during daughters spring break. I am tired of Cruises and renting Beach/Mountain getaways.
We have seen alot of the Carib and Im looking for something new.
The Dominican appears to be made up of all inclusive's. Looking for suggestions.

The wife and I went to the Dominican Republic about 3 years ago. We stayed in Punta Cana at the Catalonia Royal Bavaro. There's 2 sides of the resort. There is a "kid friendly" side and an adult side. We stayed on the adult only side so there were no screaming kids at the pool or on the beach. We had a grand time but I will warn you the humidity is off the scale and the wife says for me to make you aware that you need to bring cash to "pay to get into the country". You have to pay a $20 "entry tax" or some such nonsense at customs.

I think my wife wrote a review of it. She is a reviewer on Trip Advisor.

Re humidity; what time of the year did you go there?

Punta Cana is nice. Culebra in PR is nice also. Not sure if they have all inclusive though. Winter is better.

We were there in late May/early June of 2012. It was in the 90s during the day. Even at night it was freakin' hot.

I've been on the other side of the island (Haiti) and it is indeed hot.

You asked what time of year...I doubt it matters.

It is hot and humid all the time.

I did land in the DR and travel by taxi (THAT was crazy) to the border crossing.

I liked what I saw of the DR. It was pretty. But make sure to bring cash for the 'entry tax.'

I was in barbados for a World Cup qualifier and I agree. The humidity is freeking nasty. You take a cold shower only to be drenched again from sweat. Try playing hockey and running in that sh!t. Wasn't pretty....
