I've had the best weekend! My Dad finally took me fishing and it was the best day! I got to put my feet in the muddy water, caught and released some fish (just practicing), at one point got to use real bait worms and bait my own hook and the quiet was just amazing!
I do so much talking and communicating in my everyday that it was so nice to just be able to just "be" and fish and listen to the sounds of what was around us. We went out around 7am and didn't realize it was 4pm until people called looking for us!
Today we went and got me my own rod and reel. They may be seeing a lot less of me!

Any fellow fishermen?

Fishing is a lifelong obsession of mine, and it is great to hear more people picking up my past time. Nothing makes me feel closer to God then watching the sun rise over a lake from the front deck of my bassboat. What species were y'all after?

Fished a ton growing up, and have gone through a fishing revival the last couple years here in Colorado. Love it, and fresh brook trout cooked over a campfire is one of the most delicious foods ever made.

Absolutely right! Cell phone off, nobody talks (and nobody thinks you're mad if you aren't talking) and its just nature. I. Am. Hooked.

I'd never been but had been begging for forever. We were just practicing on a friends ranch to 'see if i liked it.' My first was a small largemouth bass, then we moved tanks because nobody was biting and the tank was all moss and we caught sunfish. We couldn't get them not to bite long enough to even set up! It was great!

My dad fly fishes, makes his own fly ties and all- and apparently I'm a natural at a spinning rod. :)

Have fished quite a bit all my life, but about 3 years ago I took up fly fishing and have been pretty addicted. Fish both lakes from a float tube and streams, and target warm water species (pike, bass, etc) as well as the usual trout.

Hi all.
Fished for and caught Crappie, Walleye, and Wipers (Striper - White Bass hybreds)
all in the last week. Its the only way I keep my sanity.
Keep on fishing there Pup - it will be a lifelong pleasure!

Started with trout fishing and worked my way to a 15 day voyage to parts 1000 miles south of San Diego. It's a sickness you will enjoy, especially with dad.

I'm not great at it, but I love it...especially when boats are involved.

That sounds great! I am mostly a Bass and saltwater guy, I used to guide in college and still fish a bunch of tournaments. If you guys get stuck with tight lipped fish or have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM!

Mrs. Cosmotopper and I worked the Atlantic surf today. Drive out in the sand and park the truck a few feet from the tide line. Requires multiple hours of contemplating the horizon, wine, cheese, and an occasional fish. Good for the soul.

Gotta love fishing. Nothing like catching something and cooking it over an open fire. More rewarding and better all around for some reason.

Going small stream bass fishing with my father this afternoon. Fishing a great stress reliever. I try to fish areas that I see few people throughout the day. The sound of the water and peacefulness of nature does wonders for my soul.

Here's a pic of the last time I went out with my dad for trout. Later that same day, a black bear attempted to cross the stream between us but was spooked. I'm 40 and hope to have many more outings with my dad, but you never know. It is easy to take life and the little pleasures of life granted.

I am fortunate to live in the heart of Montana with great fishing nearby. Was on the river all day yesterday. I have been fishing as long as I remember and have been fly fishing since I was about 14. I try to fish 50 days a year

If any tribe members are near central GA and want to do some fishing, I have a private 5-acre lake with monster bass and brim (seriously--huge). Just send a PM.

Hmmm, about 3 hours away. Still tempting.

I enjoy fishing. Currently looking for a place to take my kids where they can catch some bream and not get bored super quick.

What exactly is this "spinning rod" you speak of? :p

I've got a home out on Dauphin Island and fish all the time.

I just took my daughter and Grandson out and this crazy Pelican landed at the stern of the boat and stayed the whole time.

After several hours of fishing, we pulled up the anchor to leave and the crazy pelican jumped onto the front of the boat.

The crazy bird rode all the way back to port on the boat and finally got off as we came up to the docks.

He was either a lazy Democrat pelican that wanted a free hand out and a free ride,
Or a pirate pelican that would have taken whatever I had caught and thought he had commandeered the boat for the ride in.

Oh damn. I was so excited I didn't even notice I said that! How embarrassing.

These pictures are amazing guys!

No need to be embarrassed! Your terminology is correct. I was just poking fun at the fly fishermen (like myself) who are convinced that their way is the right (only?) way.

Actually I have spent many a fine day on the river with a spinning rod in hand.

Fishing is something you feel in your soul. Welcome to the fold.

I spend many hours on the bayou, river, and in the swamp. There is also a saltwater lake right here. I've been known to catch bluegill, bass, crappie, catfish, flounder, redfish, and speckled trout all in the same trip. A batch of fried golden croaker is to die for.

Hmmm... Fishing 50 days per year. Now that is a worthy goal!

Lifelong fisherman here. I pretty much do it all including tying flys, building custom rods, salt, freshwater.

Fly is such an art. I have a feeling ill work my way up to that. I'm glad to see so many kindred spirits I can ask questions to!

Fishing with your dad is the best kind of fishing. I miss it a lot.

I have a bunch of different fishing gear, but this is my favorite for the Gulf.
