I am a HUGE fan of the ubiquitous Rolex Submariner and Sea Dweller. Had a Sub (gave it to my father) . I always wanted Rolex to build a Sub in Titanium, and they never did......... . They did however decide to the let the folks in the sister company Tudor give it a shot in the Pelagos.
Tudor took the basics for the Sea Dweller, bumped the case to 42mm (looks great on a man sized wrist) gave it the helium release valve, used Tudors classic snowflake hands, 500m water resistance, and all in TITANIUM! The lume is the new blue and not only is in the face but also infused into the numeral and markings of the matte ceramic bezel and is bright enough that I would wear a watch cover for operations at night (or just wear my g-shock). The Tudor line uses ETA movements specialized inhouse at Rolex instead of the total inhouse built movements that Rolex uses for its line. So you ARENT getting a true Rolex movement in your pelagos.
Then they added a clasp for the braclet that Rolex should adopt for the entire Sub DSSD lineup, its that awesome. It has about 1/4 the ratchet adjustability of a modern Sub, the remaining 3/4 is a spring loaded setup designed to adjust with wetsuit compression during dives, but if sized correctly when worn normally it acts as a tension release when your wrist is at the limit of extension (think doing a pushup and you metal bracelet "giving" to let you do it comfortably) .
Ive got to say I like this one more than my Sub, or the Ball. Dressy enough for a suit, or goes fine with jeans or vertix.
