Time to replace the wifes car, so as part of my master plan of converting her into a "car person" I wanted to get her something fun to drive. Since she loved her Prius, this was not hard to upgrade. (It was reliable as a stone ax and got great mileage, but didn't have enough horsepower to pull a Boy Scout off your Granny) So we got a Honda Civic Si...2.4 litre, 201 horsepower, 6 speed manual transmission and, wonder of wonders a limited slip differential! The limited slip is what made me buy the Si over an Accord V6 with a manual. For the life of me, I can't figure out why American consumers don't demand a limited slip. Have to admit, this is a fun little car...0-60 in 6.9, will run 15's in the Quarter Mile...and get 30 plus MPG in the bargain, with the A/C on and the stereo on...my beloved muscle cars from the 60's can't compete as a daily driver. Anyone have one of these things? Modifications like a chip or airbox or exhaust make a real difference?

It's a nice car but I have a hard time taking front wheel drive cars seriously :dunno:

Subaru BRZ all the way! The SI is very nice though for the money.

For the SI, I don't think an exhaust would do much unless you also got a tune. But it is FWD so I don't think you have to do a lot to it for a fun ride.

The newer models in the Honda lineups have very limited upgrades available...it takes a while for the aftermarket to catch up. An cat back exhaust is relatively inexpensive and does boost HP gains, but its tough to like the way it sounds on a car like that.

Just Google search for your K series motor. There are several forums out there that will tell you all you need to know. K series motors are suuuuuper easy to mod. Haven't done anything to the K20Z in my RSX-S. Regardless, it has been phenomenal. You will love your SI. Congrats.

The SI's are nice, and run well. Not as well as my Miata though, I smoked one on the interstate yesterday:-) It was pretty fast though, and I didn't win by a large margin. Yes, I am still a kid at 52 sometimes.

Other forums on the Interweb? Are you sure? I was pretty sure this is the only one with information one could trust!

The Miata was in the running, but my wife really had issues with two seats...figured a stepping stone approach would work, sporty economy car that is fun to drive first, then transition into the roadster. Or something with horsepower.

Here you go, this will seem fitting for a Bon Vivant thread, lol;

I've had the same old Honda push mower since I was a toddler and it just won't die. I got to bring it with me when I moved out on my own 16 years ago. We definitely have the loot to get a new one if we wanted to, but there's simply no need. Just keeps going like the Energizer Bunny.

That is certainly a drawback if you have family still at home. It was only after we became empty nesters that it was doable.
