So we have the threads on Scotch and Bourbon now lets have one on your favorite microbrews and taprooms. Mine is usually the Tartanic Scottish Ale at Blackfoot River Brewing but if it is available I will drop anything to have their Winter Warmer Ale. It is a seasonal, only brewed in small quantities, and served from their beer engine it is amazing.

Also not far away. http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/index.cfm/beers/ourbeers/beer/two-women
"Four thousand years before Christ, Sumerian women created the divine drink of beer. Viking women brewed in Norse society. European Ale Wives were so successful as cottage brewers they were taxed. Artisanal women lost their domination of the daily ritual of brewing during the Industrial Revolution. Today’s brewing trade is controlled by men.
The collaboration of two Craft companies both led by women, New Glarus Brewing and Weyermann Malting, is unique. You hold the result “Two Women” a Classic Country Lager brewed with Weyermann’s floor malted Bohemian malt and Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops. A tempting and graceful classic lager found…Only in Wisconsin!

My favorite lately is Moosehead. It is good enough to drink all day if you want and can be found easily.

Sometimes I think I'm the only guy that doesn't drink....I have to read these threads so I'll at least have heard what's classy.
I'm sure Big C will be along any minute to throw his vodka at me in protest.
Carry on gents.

Montana just keeps getting better last year we had 30 breweries and so far this year it is 38.

Well, I recently started home brewing... My next project is a Munich Helles Lager style since my kegerator came in the big brown truck today!
Otherwise, I like Yuengling Traditional Lager, which I unfortunately can't get in CT. I usually buy a case or two when I'm passing through Pennsylvania, but I just discovered a home brew clone recipe kit for Yuengling that I will try soon!

I love a good Imperial Stout. There's a Rock Bottom Brewery (small nationwide chain) near me, on Fountain Square in Cincinnati. Their lineup of Specialty Darks often have an Imperial Stout. Sam Adams also makes a good mass-market one.
My recent favorite is a local beer. Marble brewery IPA it is bitter, deep and wonderfully complex. Just one more reason to live in New Mexico.

Huge fan of a recent local brew a friend brought over from Papago Brewing in Scottsdale, AZ...."Orange Blossom". Hint of orange, with a pretty noticeable vanilla after-effect. Like drinking creamsicle beer, I guess.
That, and the heffeweizen they serve at Flagstaff Brew Co. most of the year. Easily my two favorites.

For our population we do have some great breweries. No way I can even begin to say what is my absolute favorite. I will say that Cold Smoke out of Missoula is awesome, only problem is I live outside their distribution. I drink a lot from Red Lodge Ales, gotta support the local guys and they have some really good seasonal stuff.
The Tamarak Brewing Co in Lakeside is an awesome place. One of the best parts about training with Pfleger in the northwest is at least one visit to the Tamarak to see what is new!
I've gone paleo with my diet so I drink a lot less beer, but when I do it is usually a great Montana micro

Did you mean Bin 19 from Coors? That is a really good beer. I figured I would give it a try at a local place that had it on tap. I was skeptical and figured I would only have one to try it. Aaaaanddd about 5 more later it was time for my wife to take me home!

Snow Cap - Pyramid Brewery, Seattle WA

Sorry. I corrected it. I meant to say: Batch 19, Pre-prohibition beer. I first had it in a pub in DC. Several later I staggered and sloshed my way to a cab. When I got back home I wanted to buy a case of it, but realized that it was a trial beer in that market. So I had to special order it. All I could get was a case. I sure hope they decide to produce this beer full out as it is likely my favorite.

My favorite would be Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Although, their Oberon is a nice summer "tradition."
Bitburger Pils for a German brew.

I am partial to some things that I cut my teeth on as a young man of 16 or so, in Germany. I lived right down the street for 2 years.
I have some pics of where and how it's made...yummy. Enjoy.

All of a sudden I am feeling very thirsty!
There is a great little brew pub in Old Town that has a number of good beers but their Pool Hall Porter is outstanding. The XO got me a "growler a month" from them last year for Father's Day and I'm hoping for another round.
1554 from New Belgium is one of my all time favorites along with DPA from Great Divide Brewing company.

I live very close to a award winning micro brewery. The beer is always fresh and delicious.
I can’t remember the last time I actually bought beer from a liquor store, at least it’s one positive for still being in Colorado.

Hummermole what do you think about the anti-taproom legislation that keeps getting submitted to the state legislature. I think that it is crap that the MTA is crying about losing business to the taprooms. Come on they are only allowed to be open for a few hours each day and have a 48oz limit per customer per day.

My "usual seems to change from time to time, living in the land of microbrews, but my all time favorite is still Deschutes Brewery Black Butte Porter. I love it so much, my youngest son is named after it...

Black Butte is a fine porter. I like trying new stuff but if I'm in the mood for porter, that one is the stand by.

No worries, just checking to make sure we were talking about the same beer! You may be in luck, as I have started seeing it (and buying it) in stores here in MT. And the bar where I first tried it has only that beer on tap, and that's been for about two years now.

I think it is the standard happy horse $hite when a business tries to shut out other competition. I do understand that part of it is due to our ridiculous alcohol licensing laws. When people rely on the fact that they can eventually sell a liquor license for a ton of money for retirement, etc. I can see why they would be upset. More needs to be done to change the licensing laws, not punishing a thriving and innovative industry (and frankly, it's not like we are rolling in those types of business here.)

I just scored some Victory V-12. It's a Belgian Quad style and one of the highest rated beers from an American brewery. It's good. Damn good. It needs to be served very cold but it is one of those beers you want to savor.

I've never been able to adjust to the darker beers. I'll just stick with Shiner Bock and Yuengling. I'm cheap I guess.
