I wanted to add this due to Ms. Wolfe's thread.

I got this book from close friend Yoni for my fiftieth birthday. I was already leaning in that diredction after being disgusted with what the American people did to themselves in 2008 and with how a large percentage of so-called Christians voted in the same election.

The book details how the Jewish population in Spain, who were spanish to the bone and loyal and all of those things that R Lee Ermey would find praiseworthy, were persecuted by the crown and the Inquisition.

What these guys did was interesting. They changed names and professed to be Portugese Christians, lying to protect themselves and their families. They moved to the new world and began an age of piracy against the very people that persecuted them. A little research showed that those people were my ancestors on my father's side.

In any case, it is a great read for those historically inclined, and gives a real perspective on piracy as an occupation in those days, and a great primer to free and selfish thinking today.

I bought the Kindle version and plan on rereading it in the near future. It's a very interesting story and a part of history you don't learn in school. It is a must read.

I read it over Christmas. Picked it up after hearing about it last year on WT.

It is interesting stuff. Tells another angle on the Christopher Columbus story too.

You'll never hear about any of it in a history class.

The book inspires me, gives me drive, makes me stop whining like a little bitch. Since I was never put on the rack by my government, I have no right to think I have it bad.

I look at the horizon for the sail of the next ship to plunder.

I married a Romanian Jewess and I'm learning the ins and outs of my role in the "Jew crew" as I call it - they are loyal like nothing I've seen in my own Anglo family! It may be typical of many ethnicities like in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" etc. but the Tribe aspect of loyalty is something I'm still learning.

There's so much great input here from you all when it comes to mindset on all levels! Thank God for WT!

My great grandfather left there as a young man of about 16 or 17 to seek his fortune in the USA.

One day I will have to research how the family came to be there and under what circumstances. My father is researching the family as a hobby right now with one of his cousins so maybe they will find out at some point.

I just finished the book. Fantastic lessons.

The takeaway questions that I'm pondering: Where will MY business be in 100 years? What kind of attitudes and successes will my decendants achieve by the pattern I set in my life now? What is my long term vision? What can I do every day to build that kind of durable future?

I haven't been so inspired by a history book in a long time! The Jewish people have been so blessed with such a potent vision and they've prospered by sticking to it over thousands of years.
There is more in this book than I can percieve, but the wisdom is clearly evident. I'll be reading it again for certain!
