Just look at it....

41 years of vintage bliss... You all have seen me post about it here before..

My wife and I drove 10 hours to buy this bike...
I am the second owner...
Every seal and every bearing is replaced with a NOS Honda part...
The original and unfindable 4 into 4 OEM Honda exhaust is intact and perfect...
There are no dents or scratches...
Full Dyna electronic ignition makes it start off the button like a new one...
Its been in 2 magazines since I've owned (Classic bike, UK NOV 2011 and FastBikes, UK NOV 2012)

I bought it because My dad had one like it before I was born. A few years back I promised to help find another one for him before he died.... sadly I didn't get to keep that promise... This is one of the bikes my wife lets me keep INSIDE our house.... Theres a picture of my dad on the desk beside it.

But in a few days, I'll let an Ammtrans shipping driver load it onto his truck and take it to its new owner in Florida. I don't need to sell it... but sometimes you just have to move on.

Life changes... and so do goals. The story leading up to the purchase of this bike and the memory of my dad will stay with me forever. Its nice to have pretty things... but if you aren't careful, things you own end up owning you. And that's a small piece of why I have to change directions... and move on.

Theres nothing wrong with nice things and goals to have nice things... but in the end its the journey we keep forever.

That is a beauty. But I understand moving on.

It's not in the same class, but that bike sort of reminds me of one of my first motorcycles: an '81 Kawasaki KZ 550. Mine was not pristine, and wouldn't have graced the pages of any magazine. But it ran strong--when it ran. And it was an amazing tool for teaching me how to repair my own automobiles. (Which makes me a miracle man among attorneys. The more advanced a person's degree, the lower the odds that they are capable of changing their own oil.) That KZ is also still the only bike that I ever pushed far enough to scrape my knee on the ground.

You can let someone else enjoy it and still savor the memories.

Yes! That's the thing with vintage bikes: every ride is a story . Will it start, will it stop? Will it puke oil out when I park it.. if it rains will I be stranded...

Its that kind of stuff that got me hooked on vintage bikes in the first place.

And you're dead on about the knee scraping... and the KZ, IIRC had a sharpish front end geometry for bikes of its class, lending it well to back and forth extreme lean antics..

Like I said.. pure vintage bliss

It is amazing the depth of a memory associated with a motorcycle. I have one in the backyard at the moment. I sold it once but it came back. As you said, the memories will be with you forever.

Thanks for letting us in on it.

Had the same bike (orange) when I lived in Hawaii. Was my daily driver. K81 dunlop's, progressive rear shocks/springs, removed the center stand and used to ground the pegs in sweepers riding the island mountain roads and highways. Good days. Shipped it to the coast and road across country, went home turned around and back to the islands. You have/had a very nice bike my friend. Have to admit - kinda wish I was the buyer.

Great story my friend..

At one time I had a couple CB550s with the metal bottom foot pets - oh the look on on coming drivers faces when you come through a turn headed their way with sparks glistening off your downed peg!

It's a lot like the look when a liberal sees a bayonet mounted on an AK :yikes:

Pisses me off...........

Why didn't i get to bid on it?? I understand your need to move on..............

But damn, i wish you'd had let me know.

Bro if I had known you'd be in, I'd have called it yours before ever listing it.

Honesty I thought with the family stuff lately the last thing you'd need is me bugging you to buy something from me.....
