Yeah, I admit it. I went to see it last night. Mainly I took the wife.

It was a $300 night. The wife was ecstatic. The athleticism of the dancers was impossible to not appreciate. Some things are just worth every penny.

However, I could not help but think that the perfect precision I would have associated with the former Soviet Union just did not seem to be there.

I dance and have performed I. The Nut Cracker several times and have danced with some Russian dancers. I am amazed by the strength and agility they have.

Ya gotta remember that in the Soviet times, competition to be a touring dancer was much higher because it was the only way these people could get out of Russia.

I've always wanted to go see the Moscow ballet's The Nutcracker. I always enjoy the ballet, and totally appreciate the athleticism and complete control over their bodies that great dancers have, and it's one of my favorite musical scores. One of these days...

I'm getting too old to dance much anymore. Tore my Miniscus in a dance number a few month ago and didn't do anything about it. Ended up ripping my ACL while hunting. Got one fixed.

But the talent of these dancers are incredible. I get a lil bored watching it though.

I accompanied the nephew on a school field trip two weeks ago (parents day). The field trip was to see a traveling ballet that stopped in a city nearby. I showed an obvious appreciation for the show. Most of the other parents were women. They thought that my interest was kind of odd. One parent asked why I liked the show so much. I told her that when you have seen as many bad things as I have, you really learn to appreciate something beautiful.

I would like too see the Russians perform the Nutcracker to compare with the Pennsylvania Ballet. I have seen the Pennsylvania Ballet perform the Nutcracker many times growing up in Philadelphia and always wanted to see someone else's interpretation. I saw the musical Fiddler on the Roof by a Russian dance company in Atlantic City 30 years ago and still remember the intensity of the performance.

I can't listen to classical music on a car radio, but I can sit mesmerized actually watching a symphony play the same thing.

And hearing a Russian orchestra play Tchaikovsky, man that is a real treat!

While I have not seen the Moscow Ballet perform, I did just two weeks ago attend the Butler University production of The Nutcracker. For my first ballet, I was quite impressed with the athleticism of the dancers!
