Getting married next week. About this time last year, I started asking around planning for a honeymoon. Got some good advice from several tribe members, and finally settled on a place where one of the members works on the security detail for the Biltmore Estate. Just wanted to mention this...it is always good to have friends in a location, even if you have never met. I am quite confident my trip will go off as planned, but it is nice to know I have a local guy that can refer a tow service for example. Just something to keep in mind when you are planning a trip. A quick post about living the Warrior Bon Vivant lifestyle in a new town beats the heck out of asking Triple A about good places to eat and stay!

I have, since the first WTS, made it a point to hook up with WT's wherever I travel. From lawyers to plumbers w SI instructors in the mix, it's good to meet in person and just break bread if nothing else. If you can add in some range time, it's a total bonus.

Ah yes, my good friend RNR! That is great to hear! Me and the lady are also planning on visiting him sometime in the near future.

Congratulations Winchester, you will be in good hands with him on the detail.

Mervo we just got back and I can't say enough good things about the Biltmore. Everywhere we went, the staff treated us like we were the Vanderbuilt family in the flesh. And RNR even managed to top that. Apparently he flagged us in the computer, because when we arrived for our dinner reservation one night, the manager said "Oh, you are friends of RNR." As a result, the waitress paid even MORE attention to us, which I would have considered impossible before it happened. RNR touched base with us every day at some point and is a Southern Gentleman personified. It was comforting to me to know I had a Tribe member in my corner. It was the first time I had met him, and he made us feel like family. I can't pay a higher compliment than that.

FANTASTIC!!! RnR is a top-notch gentleman for sure. I'm glad you had an awesome time, and hope your wife did as well. It's rare to get that kind of customer service these days. I think part of the reason I enjoy the SI classes in NC is because I love the southern hospitality. Although I was born a Yankee, (and some Southerners remind me of that) I still get treated much more politely down in NC than I do in this sh*t-hole called Maryland.

Me and the lady are hoping to pay RnR a visit on our way to the Rifle Gunfighting/and Dynamics of the Shotgun class in February with Alex and JD. If you and the wife can spare the time and cash we'd love to have you as well. (it would give my lady another person to shop with RnR and I get schooled in the finer points of shooting by SI.)

This has gotten me thinking: do we have some kind of travel network group or protocol? First, I know I'm new here on WT, but I lurked forever before joining and really feel like everyone here are solid people, and that this is a close-knit, trustworthy community.

I know that if anyone is visiting the Denver area I'd be more than happy to do whatever I could to make their trip more enjoyable--whether that's recommending good restaurants or fun activities, or doing a range trip, or even working as a sort of unofficial tour guide to some of the cool stuff I know about if my schedule allows. Is there a way to sort of organize a travel group, so if someone is visiting a city for business or pleasure they'll have a couple of people from WT in their corner as a local ambassador? I freaking love stuff like this.

You guys are making me blush...

Win it was more than a pleasure to meet you and your Lady. And it was my pleasure to be of assistance during your post-wedding vacation.

As for being "flagged"...Yep, but you have no idea, bro. We have what are called "VIP" computer flags for, of course, very important people. These are the "heavy hitters", the "big rollers", so to speak. But I have taken that designation to heart, modified it and personalized it. I made several phone calls and spoke with several of my co-workers that I know well. You were "flagged" as a "VIP" all right, but in your case you were flagged as "Victor's Important Person". :finger:

That's awesome!

I've been to Biltmore several times, but my wife never has and we may visit before Christmas. If we do, I will try and look you up.

Again, I can't say enough good things about it. World Class Service, which is exactly what this sub-forum addresses. To have a member of the tribe there and taking an active role to insure my new wife and I were having a good time...priceless and it didn't cost me an extra dime. And yes, I think this could easily happen Coast to Coast. I know if a WT tribe member was in my town, I would be happy to offer some suggestions on where to go and where to stay. If the circumstances were right (sometimes four is a crowd) I would be honored to meet for dinner. That is one of the big draws to me for this forum...we are all like minded individuals. Gabe has created something magical here...except that makes me feel queer to say it, so fuck you all. (there, I feel better...ok, so I am a slave to the cheap laugh. If you can't take it....)

Classic! Colombianito has it right...I think everyone that is legit on this forum would smell out a poser from 100 yards. Anyone that is here and is the real deal is welcome in my home/town, anyone else gets the bum rush!
